Here We Go Again

Chilean miners are being brought to the surface, one by one, as this is being written. Already, it's "praise God" this and "thank God" that. This nonbeliever is ready to scream.

My response is two words, maybe four: Holocaust and Inquisition (add natural disasters). Why these two (4) words?

Well, what occurred? Torture and death of millions of innocent men, women and children: Kill the infidels, wipe out the Jews. Add to that the many more humans that were victims of earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, lightning, accidents, etc. (God's "plan"?)

Yes, let's "praise God" for how he loves, cares, and protects us. I just wonder why he goes on so many vacations.
(Again, no offense to all believers reading this.)

I think fundamentalist Christians are the most intolerant of believers, and I think I am about to create a new category of non-believers just for you Randy: fundamentalist atheist, because you are seriously intolerant of believers.

I'm with you on this one, Randy. I know for a fact that G-d had nothing to do with it, but the rescue drillers and workers did. Besides, G-d was on the golf course with me yesterday, not in Chile.

He was with me for 15 holes (even par), but forsake me on 3 (2 bogies and a double). Funny how that works.

I come from a very long family of coal miners and mining disasters have ravaged the South Wales coal fields for many a generation. Every day, day day out, men and their wives would say their farewells at the start of the shift - each wondering if, they would see their loved ones again, for fear of this disaster striking.
My heart goes out to all concern - colliers and family members alike, that they have returned to the surface

No doubt it's a very dangerous and unhealthful occupation. I hope your family has never experienced any harm.

I am calling for a morartorium on religion. My view is the same as yours but it is offensive to those among us who are devout believers and we all know where we stand now.

I know--can't help myself. But this is my outlet. Let the chips fall where they may. If I offend some, don't read me. I won't quit writing about my feelings.

Maybe you could just change the channel or go outside and split some more wood.

Wherever I go, whatever I do, religion smacks me in the face. That's what angers me--that and Cialis commercials!

Okay, stand up, take a deep breath walk to a fast food joint and find a picture of JC in the hamburger roll!!!

You know I agree totally. As far as I am concerned, God is always out to lunch. Believers thank him for being saved without considering that if he'd been looking out for them, the disaster wouldn't have happened at all. It's the Stockholm Syndrome -- identifying with the oppressor.

I simply don't understand how humans can be such egoists. They fail to see the big picture (which was my point). Where is their loving god during all this slaughter? Why do they see "miracles" and not horrific tragedies? Let's call a spade a spade. There is no "His eye is on the sparrow" god. And there is no "There is a reason for God's plan" (a quote I heard last night). These miners were lucky. The next ones may not be so.
