It has been so beautiful the past few days. Yesterday it was 80 degrees. Today - 40!! That's how the weather here is though. Coats one day and shorts the next.
We had a BBQ Sunday to celebrate the nice weather. Had around 25 people show up. Usually when I have a BBQ it's big but this one was VERY big. I'm sure it had to do with the fact that it was the 1st nice day and the 1st BBQ so far.
In my crowd of friends we do many parties and BBQ type things. Most lesbians don't have family or are in bad terms with them due to being gay so we tend to make our own family within our group. I guess that is where the term "family" referring to being gay comes from. When your gay and your real family disowns you, you make your own family and that's what many of us have done.
The night before I had noticed that the little black kitten wasn't doing very good. He was half the size of the other two and crying all the time. When I noticed mama kitty pushing it out of her bed, I sent GF to store to buy kitten formula and we started syringe feeding it 1 cc every hour. I knew kitty wouldn't make it but GF has such a soft heart, she felt we caught it early enough and with the hand feedings it would come around. The problem with hand feeding when they are that small is it's very easy to get the milk in the lungs instead of the tummy and they end up dying of respitory failure before starvation. At least it's faster than starving I guess. My friend that is a vet tech came by and pretty much told us kitty wouldn't last a day. Well - it made it until about 4 when he passed. It was terribly sad but I already knew he wasn't going to make it so I was fine but GF didn't take it well. We buried him in the garden in the corner and we plan to plant a sunflower in the spot. I had named him "Waylon" since he cried all the time. RIP little black kitty.
The BBQ sounds nice. We've been able to grill here the past week. Yay for spring!
