This weekend is Utah Pride. I have gone year after year and it's just gotten bigger and bigger. I don't know if there are more gays or more gay friendly people but last year, it was over 30,000 people.
Friday night my friends and I are having a house party. We decided since the 2 lesbian bars are doing a (1) White Party and (2) Black Party, we should do a Plaid Party. Just because it's a funny generalization about lesbians that we wear plaid flannel. I'm actually going to have to go to a 2nd hand store and find one. I'm also in charge of doing the music. They wanted very "gay" music so of course there will be tons of Ani, Tegan & Sarah and Melissa.
Saturday we will walk around the booths and listen to a few bands. Last year the music was amazing with many good talents but this year, the lineup looks a little drab. That night we will head to the bar where I work and help the girls in the kitchen get orders out. I only agreed to help if I could still drink and watch the band.
Sunday is the Big Day when I have volunteered to pour beer from 2:30 - 6:00 at the beer booth. All tips go to charity but they are having a contest to see which bar can serve the most beer. We got a good time slot so I think we may be able to do pretty good. Plus, the bar I work at is a big beer bar with over 35 to choose from, we area all very good at pouring and pouring fast. When we are done there, we head back to the bar I work at for another night of serving food and helping out. After the bar closes, the employees are welcome to stay for an employee party. If I am not dead tired, I may stick around for it.
I took Monday off for a personal day. (All gays should get the day after Pride weekend off) I will be sleeping until noon and spending the rest of the day on my couch with my g/f and a stack of movies.
