So the bubs and Tucker went to the vet Monday night. I wanted to have some lumps and bumps checked out on Kraymer and Tucker has been having some weird mouth issues we wanted to have checked out.
Well the lumps and bumps we pointed out all seemed to be normal and the vet wasn't too worried. He did want to take Kraymer to the back to check a couple of them though, so we were like ok cool. When the vet came back he said they found another one on Kraymer's ear that they didn't like the looks of so they wanted to do an FNA (fine needle aspirate - less invasive and less conclusive than surgery to remove the whole growth) the vet said he'd get back to us in a few days about what they found, hoping it would be nothing.
Well the vet called today and he said the pathologist person didn't like the looks of Kraymer's cultures (from 2 diff growths), so the bubs is going to have to have surgery. This TOTALLY freaks me out because one of the growth's is on his ear, meaning he will no longer look the same once they take out the growth and surrounding areas... I mean I am already freaked out that the baby boy has cancerous growths but now he's also going to be altered forever and look strange? I don't know if I am focusing on that part to avoid the real issue, cancer.
When I texted my friend K about who she would recommend for surgery she called me immediately and talked me off the ledge so to speak. I was on a verge of tears and she relaxed me saying that she's seen a lot of this stuff before and it would most likely all be fine and dandy. I <3 her. I worked with her at a vet years ago and I have kept in touch with her which is great for times like these.
I talked to two friends who have been through this recently, K being one of them, and they both independently recommended the same surgeon. I made an appt with said surgeon for a consult on Friday to see when the surgery will be.
UGS. Is really all I've got. I am sure all will be well but it's scary to know cancer is in my baby boy...
Not a happy Wednesday peeps....
