Hippy Hippy Shake

Yes, I experienced my first Earthquake on Tuesday.

I had just gotten home from walking dogs and was in the kitchen. I noticed everything shaking. My first thought was that DC got bombed... I was completely freaked out about what would happen next - gasses??? a wall of flame??? Yes, I am a worry wart...

I was very happy when the shaking stopped - and Kraymer and Tucker finally stopped barking. Poor pups were freaked out as well.

I tuned into the TV, Family Feud was playing uninterrupted --- but then the Emergency Broadcast System emblem came on, but no news followed. I was like ok, so something DID just happen, but what???

I then emailed R and said I think an earthquake or something just hit --- fully expecting him to say something probably fell in the basement and not to worry.

I then checked with SpicyB thru IM and she said it was an Earthquake. Whhhhaaaaa?

Around this time I also realized - check facebook! I did and it was all over facebook already. I should have checked there first! I am telling ya people post everything going on at the moment it's going on, so it's a pretty good news source for things going on around you.

Anyways, all is well here. I am glad it was an Earthquake and not DC getting bombed... I am glad there were only minor injuries, and not many of them. We were all lucky.

Now we just need to brace ourselves for the impending hurricane Irene... good times!

Hoping you got through the hurricane with little to no damage. Sorry you had to go through the earthquake alone - aside from the puppies.

ur too cute... I am glad I was home for the pups! The hurricane has been called 'BOREicane Irene' around here, which is funny and also great that we didn't get effected too bad at all.

We have small ones here but they are not strong enough to do much damage,
although they can't be good for your house.

An earthquake and Hurricane Irene both in the same week! That's too much. We have been having small earthquakes in Oklahoma on a fairly regular basis. I'm just waiting for the big one.

I don't want any bigger one so I am not waiting for it! Yeah I got some water today and some bread, so we should be just fine..

I did not feel it here.Mike did at work in Concord,NH.
He call to see if things are okay. What?earthquake,no way not here.
Put the TV on and yes we did or the east coast did.
They did had some aftershock the other day.
What next. Not worrying about Irene, the weather man are.
No worry here. But we will get heavy rain on Sunday so the tell us.
Stay dry and take cover.

Good for you for not worrying... I want to make sure we have batteries and enough water - just in case. Better to be safe than sorry!

why can't these things space themselves out. two in one week! I imagine you felt the quake more than we did. it felt like a roller coaster here, not fun. but nothing fell off the walls or anything. I am in full freak out mode for the hurricane!

It was strange indeed... and I am glad you are far enough inland to not have to worry TOO much - just make sure you have your emergency supplies ready!

Did the dogs act funny right before it happened? I heard somewhere that animals are able to sense those things coming.

if they did I didn't notice...

Wow! Never experienced an earthquake, but after going through tornadoes and hurricanes, I think I will pass on that experience...if I can.

Yes, I would recommend it. Although again, we were lucky - no damage to us or anything in our close vicinity.
