Where to Begin?

Today we are going on a wine tour with Spicybiotch and a bunch of her friends. I am excited for this! I am hoping it doesn't involve tooooo much walking since I twisted my ankle taking out the garbage on Thursday night. It seems I tend to roll my ankle pretty easily these days! Not a fan...

So the gov't isn't shutting down just yet. That's a good thing, although hubby was looking forward to his "forced" few days off. He said he's taking Monday off regardless. Good for him I say! It's a busy weekend for us so a day off of R&R will do him good.

I am pissed off that the Repub's are taking away money for Planned Parenthood. I understand that Fed money shouldn't be used for abortions, but Planned Parenthood does SO MUCH MORE in education and providing services for those in need. What are they trying to do? Have more suffering when people can't afford prenatal care? Have more mom's dependent on WIC? I just can't understand it. Maybe I am not looking deep enough, but it bugs me. That and it ticks me off that taxpayer dollars support veal farmers. People are down with killing live babies but not the cells that aren't alive yet. I do not get it.

Last night R and I watched Darfur Now. Sad sad sad. There is just so much suffering and injustice in this world. Tomorrow we are going on a farm sanctuary tour. We'll hear the stories of animals who were abused/left for dead/whatever else people can think to do to these poor animals. It's times like these when I need my brain to focus on the quote:
‎"I am only one, but I am still one; I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do." Edward Everett Hale

Oh well. Off to drink some wine and forget about the troubles of the world for awhile. Happy Saturday peeps!

You and R go and have a good time with s.b. Politics and politicians make
me ill. The men in my generation that have hung around in Congress are
just male chauvinists. They care nothing for women's issues.

It's all so disappointing to me. R and I had a GREAT time! Fun fun fun.

No Federal money can be used for abortions since the law was passed in the last decade during the Bush era. The issue over Planned Parenthood was a right-wing smokescreen.

All that time wasted arguing about the government shutdown, you'd think the members of Congress just look for excuses to not do any real work.
