Sold to the Man ...

PACIFIC GROVE COPSE 2010
36" x 24" framed acrylic painting
Completed June 2010

I can't believe I sold it so fast!

I finished this painting a little less than a week ago. I framed it Monday. This morning I took it over to the Tiffin Art Guild Gallery and hung it up in the main gallery (in the spot where I removed another of my paintings that had been there since late April when we opened to the public.)

At 4 PM I got a call from Mary the volunteer at the Gallery. A gentleman from here in town came in, saw the painting, went home and measured a wall, came back and wrote a check for it. $500. (I will get 75 percent of that.)

He took it home! It's gone! Another 'baby' has a new loving home!

I painted it because I liked the scene. I had done one previously in the early 1980s that my ex stole during the divorce, and I wanted to paint the scene again, so I did, and I did it better!

Now I am thinking about painting it again!

Hallelujah!

Congratulations. I have done paintings over the years, at infrequent times when I get that creative urge. First in water colors, then in oils. I like landscapes, and especially seascapes. My house is full of framed paintings that I have done, and also many done by my grandmother.

That's the way to go. It is a beautiful painting, and it got it cheap$$$

I wasn't being snide or jealous--sorry you took it that way--I also said no two paintings are alike

Great news for you....do you suppose anyone would buy my stick figures? On second thought, probably not! Oh well! congrats to you, good friend.

Though no two pictures are ever painted alike if I bought a painting I wouldn't want to see anothe like it for sale--but that's me.

I think your comment was kind of snide and actually shows some jealousy, Martin. Take care with what you write.

But hey. He paid five hundred dollars for it and I'm very happy with it.

Go look on the web site. One is in the Old work and one is at the bottom of the sold work. They are not the same view.
reply by jondude on June 24, 2010 8:07 PM ()
They are not alike.

Yeah! Time to head for the grocery store to get Friskies and the package store for some Scotch. Celebration time!

Congratulations! That's just super, I'll bet Hobbes is very proud of you. He might say he is the cat behind the man, and you wouldn't be so successful without his encouragement.

Hobbes is a good trooper and backs me. I just wish he would stop overeating.
