A Minority Of One

Life & Events > 2008 to 2009

2008 to 2009

This was an awful year. It is about time for the new one.

I realize that there are people here with worse problems and difficulties than me. So I won't belabor mine.

We have financial, medical, relationship and social problems here in MyBloggerstown, and we all suffer from one thing or another. The Holiday season is the time when we try to put all that behind and gird our loins to move ahead.

That can be very difficult to do when your checking account is empty or your car is broken down or your pet is dying or your days and nights are so lonely it makes you want to run away from it all.

But...

There will be a tomorrow. Count on it.

Blogging helps. It offers us a way to get it off our chests. It offers a way to "talk" to friends who help us get through the rough times. It offers a way to discover that we are not alone.

I appreciate what you all mean to me. I savor these moments with you, whether you know or don't know that I have read your posts.

I appreciate you whether you voted for my guy or the other one. I appreciate you whether you are straight, gay, Asian, Russian, Mississippian, New Yorker, a Steeler fan or a Browns fan, male or female, liberal or conservative, dog or cat.

I feel your pain and elate in your happiness. I am moved to a tear by you and I crack a big grin with you.

2009 may or may not be a better time for you and for me, but it will soon be here. I hope you all will be here, too.

Happy New Year!

.....

So what's with the Rembrandt avatar? Well, I had a date last Saturday and the lady has taken to calling me "Rembrandt." So it's just for funny.

A lot of comments! Thanks, folks!
Now, I am happy. I have said since November that USC is the REAL national champion college football team. So far, I was correct. (Boy! I hope this doesn't upset my good friends in OK, TX and FL!) USC totally dismantled Penn State in the Rose Bowl. Awesome.

Good night! I had to scroll down FOREVER to get to the comment box. I did not read the comments, so I may repeat what has already been said. You are entirely right about our community. It does have its share of ailments and woes. We all have them, I guess in one way or another. You are also right that things will get better and that blogging helps quite a lot. It helps me even when I write something and don't post it. I think I post about one-third of what I write. Thank you for this post. It is good. Take care...

Don't forget "Sooner fan"! LOL! Great post jd. It said so much about what drives us all to come together as a family--albeit a hyperlinked one--but a family nonetheless.Best wishes in 2009.

Got invited to a roast pork loin dinner on NY Day by friends and landlord/landlady. I shall dine according to our tradition here on the loin, sauerkraut, mashies and gravy, fresh baked breads and corn pudding. I will defy the gall bladder with many Omega-3 capsules and take along a fine couple of wine bottles for the repast.

I'm hoping for change even though it means it's gonna get worse before it gets better. After a recap of 2008 on ABCnews, there were so many schisters that one wonders whether there is any hope for the people. No wonder other countries have lost respect for this nation. Hoping the new year is good for you, my friend.
