Romeo Crennel, Coach of the Cleveland Browns, was removed and will enjoy a few million dollars "buyout" from his extended contract. The owner also fired Phil Savage, the General Manager.
Good riddance.
Now the new.
Bill Cowher, former very successful coach of the Steelers was approached about the opening in Cleveland. He said he did not want to coach in 2009 and that he would not be interested in the job anyway. Good! I want NO Steelers blood in the Browns camp! Even though Bill played and coached as an assistant in Cleveland, he is 'tainted.'
Eric Mangini, coach of the NY Jets, was also sacked. I don't want him as the new Browns coach either. The problem: Crennel was one of Bill Belichick's assistants. Mangini is a Belichick product, too. I've had enough of the Belichick stuff. He coached with the "old" Browns and was the guy who removed Bernie Kozar from the QB role (along with the hated owner, Art Modell, who moved our team to Baltimore in the secrecy of the night.)
No Belichick influence, PLEASE!
The rumor is that the Browns owner is talking to the Director of Player Personnel at the Patriots about the GM job.
PLEASE! No!
Here's my guy:
Mike Holmgren, just-retired coach of the Seattle Seahawks.
Holmgren coached in Green Bay for years and had success. He brought Brett Favre to the leading QB role he once enjoyed. When he took over the Seattle team they were the worst. He brought them to a Super Bowl. He is a TOUGH guy, and just what our team needs. We don't need any more leftover wimps from Belichick's sidelines.
Holmgren would want total control of the team, just as he had in Seattle. I say, give it to him, and pay him whatever it will take to sign him up. Give him the key to the city. Give him title to Lake Erie, the Ohio Turnpike and a giant mansion in Gates Mills.
Another point: The Browns moved from 7th up to 5th in this Spring's draft. The other four teams in front of them will draft quarterbacks and other positions. The Browns want All-American linebacker Rey Maualuga, the best! I also think they should approach Steve Sarkisian, USC's offensive coordinator, about coming to Cleveland.
Now. 2009. Let's get 'er done! The fans demand it.
One more item:
GO USC!

You are what you eat. You are what you think. You are what you do.
So today I am a dirty bath towel because it is laundry day!
I'm off to the 'mat' where the lovely women hang out with their loads of wash. Many times I am the only man over there. It is a good place to observe people.
You can tell a lot about a person by what they stack on the grocery checkout counter - and by the laundry they wash and dry. Interesting. I wonder what they conclude about me, with all these towels covered in cat hair?
