You're Not Old(er), You Are Old

This has nothing to with Mike turning 65 today! LOL

For a few years of blogging whenever I spoke about my age I always said "old(er) " and then one day I realized
I was old not old(er). Was it about the time 'gadgets' entered my life
and I am not talking about things like Ipads, cellphones, etc., as they
still haven't entered my life! After my aorta valve replacement
operation I had to take my blood pressure
every morning
until it leveled out and for the past 2 years it has been 100-110 over
75-80. On Tuesday I went to my primary for my yearly flu shot--which I
couldn't get from him because insurance regulations changed that. In any
case my blood pressure shot up, especially the lower number, which
concerned him. He wanted me to double my Lasix--thanks Doc I don't run
to the bathroom enough?--which is a diuretic--and take my blood pressure
once in the morning, once in the afternoon and once at night and then
average the figures out for the day and as soon as the lower number gets
back in the 70s I could go back to my regular dosage.

So
here I am back to being tied to the monitor. Along with that I take
Warfarin which is a blood thinner basically to prevent blood cots and
reducing risks  of heart attacks and strokes. You usually have to have
your blood tested at the doctor's office a couple of times a month but
over a year ago I was able to get a self home test which meant I didn't
have to go to the doctor at all. Every Thursday I would prick my finger,
take the test and call in the results. By the way one of the side
effects of blood thinners is the following, that they don't tell you
about!

And if you scratch yourself or anything like that it takes some
times two weeks to heal. When I had birds I couldn't have parrots
because their bite could have made me bleed to death. By the way
somewhere here I should add all this happened because of eating 'good',
smoking and other so called 'bad habits--don't believe it!

So here I am taking my blood pressure and PT test plus let's not forget my 'drugstore';

Folks I am not getting old nor am I old(er) I am just old and, in spite of all the above, loving every minute of it!!!

Is all that blood pressure monitoring going to keep you out of trouble? Probably not, you'll make time somehow so you can get it all in.

No matter what you're writing about, Martin, you manage to make me laugh.Your arms look like my Dad's arms (he also takes blood thinners and NEVER gets a headache) and your pharmacy looks like my parents cupboard but you're all enjoying life, no? And that's what matters the most....

I'm thinning out the medicine cabinet little by little--I've gone from 14 medicines a day down to 7!!!

Medicince definitely becomes mroe prevailant as we we get older. I know that I seem to find the numbers of pils and challenges increasing.

I do the BP monitor thing, too. I'm happy with the results of lysinoprol. What's the joke about a restored late model? I don't do jokes. Glad you're hanging in there.

Ah!!!!!!!!talking about me again?(kidding)I hear what your saying.
But lets face it.We make the best of it.Speaking about bruises on your arm this cause by some of the med.that you take?I know take my aspirin and if I get hit with a tennis ball or anything I bruised easily. Not as bad as yours but some.Take some time to fade away.Glad to here that you got the BP down.Keep up the good works.Think that you have some problems with getting email to Mike and not sure.
Did you checked out the address to be sure?
arvnts@metrocast.net.Told him about the ecard as he says no?

Aspirin like warfarin thins your blood, more red capillaries get to skin consequently easy bruising.

Yes, I have Mike's right address

When I'd share at meetings and find myself lost for way to say "older person", one of our senior members--75-years old--told me to "just say geezer'. Simple enough.

As I've said I love being old--it is a blast--call me whatever you want just don't call me 'kid'!
