Long hours at work and its been very busy. Yesterday at one point I looked up to greet my customer. Here was a woman in her late 30's I would say. She had sunset colored eyes. Well not her eyes, her eyelids. It started out pink on the brow bone, shifted to purple, pink and light blue. WOW! It might be a good look for a night out on the town, but shopping at walmart? hehehe
Now I would like to do a replay of a conversation I had with Erin, a fellow cashier and my biggest fan. Yesterday she came in and had the register next to mine, so my back was to her.
"Is that Mary?" Erin shouts. I turn to look at her.
"Did you color your hair?? You look gorgeous! Have you lost weight too? Oh my God, you look so fantastic!!!" Erin continues shouting over to me. Now mind you, its extremely busy at this point and I think everyone in walmart could hear her. My customers are sizing me up, checking me out after hearing her comments.
"She's my biggest fan" I say, nervously chuckling. Erin runs over and continues to tell me how great I look. I am ready to crawl under my cubby to avoid all the compliments.
Erin is the sweetest person I have ever met. She is always bouncy and happy and wanting to know how you are really doing. I think she could tell something was not quite right as she continued pouring compliments on me. She came next to me and whispered "What does your husband say about all these changes?"
"Nothing" I tell her. Her face drops and a look of deep sympathy comes over her.
"Is he doing anything to better himself?" she asks quietly
"Nope" I tell her with my head down, begging the tears to go away.
In five minutes Erin has delved into my hidden fears and sadness. Her eyes are so expressive. I can tell she wants to hug me and wipe the sadness from my face. But its time to get back to work.
