A Place to Fit In

I am beginning to see that opening yourself up to people really does work. I notice it at Kota's class mostly. There is one lady there who's little girl is in the class right before Kota's. Hubby knew her from when they worked at walmart together. Last night I was sitting there, hubby hadn't gotten there yet. She was about to leave and turned and saw me. She said if she had known I was there she would have come talked to me. The owner's wife commented on my hair. I actually wore it down yesterday. She asked if I had gotten a perm. I explained no its just my crazy hair. Another mom came in and told me her daughter got her next belt. It does shock me that people *want* to talk to me, yes low self esteem here.
The owner-instructor loves to pick on kota. He has gone in a few times with a koolaid moustache. Yesterday he told everyone to put on their koolaid smile! He is quite a character. While they do their warm ups he plays music, usually the soundtrack to Rocky. He will holler out in the middle of class, YO ADRIAN! Well yesterday he had different music and was letting one of the high belts warm everyone up. I looked at him and said, Master Reynolds, the makarena???? Yep, he proceeded to do the makarena.
I love going there, feel like I finally fit in somewhere. I enjoy talking to the different people and especially the kids.
My neighbor gave me a shirt the other day. It is Maxine and it says, Don't worry be crabby. LOL I asked her what she was trying to say! I might have to find her a shirt, something about rednecks. I tease her all the time that we are both rednecks. She recently got a nice swing and her hubby put it together but it is sitting in their garage. So she opens the doors and sits in her swing. I told her, you might be a redneck if you have a swing in your garage.
I have been busy doing outside yard work this week. Weeding my flower beds, veggies and trying to keep kota out of mud. I think today I will grab my book and sit in the sun. its been beautiful weather. And tonight we go spend the night at moms. Which means a run to the store for good snacks. Yogurt, fruit, popcorn. We will skip class tonight so we can go early. The last two weeks we have gone late because Kota first had his testing and then the next week was the belt ceremony.
I guess thats all the news for now. Going to enjoy my coffee and watch some news.

cool...glad you found some fellow parents to socialize with. the weather has been nice hear too, for the last week or so. I've been sitting out on my back porch most mornings with my coffee and my Newsweek magazine listening to the birds chirp, watching the sun come up, reveling in the quiet and wishing I was out on the golf course on such a fine cool morning.

I love the swing in the garage. Too funny. What is it about folding lawn chairs and folks sitting at the entrance of their garage watching the world go by. It cracks me up, but we do it too sometimes!!!
