The Winter is Finally Here

The wind is just howling around the house after an artic
blast reached us about two p.m. I managed to get in a short
walk before the north wind knocked me off my feet.

This is the kind of weather that calls for a good book and
hot chocolate. I picked up the girls from school and Adrienne
was seven minutes late. Then she came with Dakota who lives
a block from me so I took him home too. I did not tell her
mother or her sister. Personally, I think both of their
hormone levels are over the top. She knows I am available
for consultation.

I spent most of the day shopping and organizing the cabinets.
I made a major score couponing, the only time I ever got a
freebie with a dollar off on a 99cent package of sugar cookies. The girls have already devoured them.

I watered everything yesterday, hoping the plants that are
still alive won't freeze. It has been so dry here.

I am making a big pot of soup. Ted is trying to lose
30 pounds before his visit to the doctor. It ain't easy
but I am helping all I can.

I am working on losing weight too! The weather down here is freaky- cold, warm, then cold again.

Ah, hormones, a sweet memory ...
we're getting a cold snap this weekend -- probably do not have your sympathy as I doubt it will get blow 50. But that's cold enough for me.

The older I get, the worse I hate cold weather. I have enjoyed the warm so
much that it compensates for how dry it has been. The 50 degrees can be cold
if there is a wind.

Finally, winter has hit the midwest. No more outdoor walks. But good books, hot chocolate and vegetable soup aren't all bad!

It is chilly here this morning. We had rain for two days but yesterday was gorgeous. Still no really bad weather though.

Believe it or not, we have had a lot of rain. December was way above normal.

I am so jealous that you had rain. We just had snow sprinkles.

We are now getting a few inches here and finally welcome the snow in ski country and good for them as they needed this.

Right and I was pleased that the extreme right didn't win the New Hampshire
primary. You all have more sense.

Our mild weather has turned cold and snow is coming, our first real storm of
the winter — maybe four inches by Friday morning. Soup sounds wonderful!
Stay warm, Jeri....

It is such good soup weather. Hot chocolate too.

Winter hasn't gotten here either. No snow on the ground although a bit did fall now and then. Not complaining. Maybe work on the house can get finished. A few more weeks and the coldest part of winter is over--hang in!

I am hanging in there. It is always so encouraging when January is half over. The days get longer.

30 pounds! That seems like a lot... but men seem to have an easier time losing weight for some reason...
We are supposed to have a beautiful day tomorrow, then it's going to get cold again...

They do have an easier time of it. I like to bake in cold weather but I
sent the chocolate chip cookies home to Ellie.
