We have horrendious fires. 28 people have lost their homes
as it raged across l22nd street east. Some of them were
especially horrible because so many animals were lost. Where
possible horses and large animals were led away by strangers
and put in a pound where people could go to find them. No
human lives were lost but I am sorry for everyones loss be
it home, animals or lives. It is burning and I
hope that they can put out all the hot spots tonight. It is
like a war scene. Black Ash everywhere. I hope Jerms father
and mother escaped the devastation.
I met the only other two democrats in Oklahoma today while
I waited on Kathy to finish with an elderly lady at the bank.
I visited with her son and he said his mother was as well. We
agreed that we wished that President Obama had been tougher
on the House.
While I waited for Ashley, I met a woman whose yard is gorgeous. She has three colors of sweet potato plants on her slopes and she took me in to her back yard which was
a vision of delight. She had a flagstone deck around her
pool which led up to a series of berms planted with all kinds of foliage in different colors. She said she was a
master gardener and her house was going to be on the tour
of homes. Some of her foliage was crispy critters and she
said she was going to spray it green before the tour. She
never has many blooms but her yard is colorful from all
the vines in different colors. She asked me if I would
like to join her group but I declined because I don't
want to dig and work that hard.
We are having an early night tonight. Rex woke us up at
5:30 a. m.
