I have been into the new babies in the family for a month and
now that I have finished shopping for things they will need
and don't know it, I am onto home decor.
When I was strolling through the garage, it suddenly came
to me that five pieces of beautiful etched glass were in a
very dangerous spot. They are silver and gold with silver etching. We bought them at a flea market several years a go.
I thought wouldn't they look great on every other cabinet
door. Ted installed them and they make my kitchen look
very French. He was not able to stand up to cutting out
the doors and putting them in but we attached them with
mirror hangers and really like them.
I am hoping that Jerms will come over and paint my fireplace
wall antique red. I have the paint and all the equipment but
I know he is very busy.
Now, let me tell you the sad couch story. I bought a very
expensive couch that was covered in several different fabrics.
The cushions are down and the feathers kept poking through
the chenille on the seat cushions. On top of that, when
anyone sat on it, it left awful marks on the chenille. I
called the furniture company and they sent out a Tech who
took pictures and ordered new cushion covers. I knew they
would do the exact same thing so I took the cushions to an upholsterer and had him cover them with leather. They are
back home and antique red and we love them because they
are made with heavy welting and will last us out. I can
clean them and since the couch is curved, you can seat
five people and they can all see the TV. I am telling you
this because it is one horrible result of outsourcing to
China. They do not use quality fabric and they don't design
for long wear. The cushions were not welted and already
looked like they would come apart. The tech told me it
was just designed to look pretty and not for use. I think
it is terrible to send our jobs to China. Greed, pure and
simple.
