A Very Tame Week

Right about now, I could use some drop in company. I have whiled away the hours reading and watching old westerns on
tv. It is the only kind of movie that Ted and I can agree on. I love romantic comedy and he loves spy movies and thrillers that have almost no dialog....a lot of screams and bullets and murders.

I read a good book by Jacqueline Mitchard called The Breakdown Lane. I have two more to read but neither of them
seem very interesting. I finally got This Body of Death by
Elizabeth George and it was excellent.

Ted and I watched a western with Warren Beatty and Julie
Christie and it was extremely out of the ordinary. It was
called, Caleb and Mrs. Miller. It is an old movie but we
missed it the first time around. We both enjoyed it a lot.

Ted has an echocardiagram tomorrow. I guess everything has
to be ruled out.

I planted a cone flower and another rosemary yesterday. I
water every morning when it is cooler and I think the plants do better. It is going to be 99 today. The worst is
when it gets to be over l00 degrees. I can remember summers
when it has been ll8 for a solid week.

Our climate has changed so drasticly that it has to be
global warming. We were cold by the first week in October
last year and had an awful blizzard on Christmas Eve.

I sure would love to drop in on you, but alas, Florida is too far away. I still recommend the books A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini and The Gathering by Anne Enright. The first made a lasting impression on me.

We started watching "Gritty Crime Drama" movies as a compromise between foreign movies that I would like, and action thrillers or horror movies that Mr. Troutbend might prefer.

I am surprised that Gary likes horror movies. Adrienne does too and she said that she likes the slasher movies best.

too wet and miserable here at present to do anything or go anywhere----but better than our heatwave last summer a whole 10 days over 100 --at least ya can get warm ----and yes somethings up with the weather whatever it is

It is very strange that our weather is topsy turvey. Once the temperature is over a l00, it is dangerous to spend time outside.

Wish I could say the same about my week. It has been filled with more drama than I needed.

I welcome good drama but not the kind you are having.

Well if I lived closer there will drop in to see you all.
what is a cone flower?
comment by fredo on July 18, 2010 9:31 AM ()
We would welcome you. Oddly enough, my sister in law came over Sunday
morning. She is deep in a depression. A cone flower looks something like
a sunflower and it is a wild flower. They are very pretty and can take a
a lot of sun and they are perenneals. The nurseries have started selling
them because they are so suited to our climate.

Did you talk to the doctor about what you thought was going on? Annnnd Have you read "same kid of different as me"? It's an awesome book and an easy read, I think you'd like it!
