Sunday Afternoon

Another uneventful day. Ted is feeling miserable and will
be more so during the next couple of months with a round of
doctor and dental appointments. I need to go with him most
of the time. It is a chore that I don't relish.

Rex has been unusually clinging since his teeth cleaning.
He is having a bark fest in the backyard at present because
the neighbors are swimming.

We had a big rain yesterday and the temperature has dropped
during the night. I struggled and kept the tomatoes alive
and now they are blooming again. A nice, juicy home grown
tomato is a beautiful experience.

I have all my fall preparations done, freezer defrosted,
some of the painting and staining done. I need to mulch
the flower beds but I have fertilized for the last time.
My Sil who is a mater gardener says not to dead head the
roses a week or so before the first freeze. I dried some
basil and rosemary but decided against a fall garden. I also took the car to Sears and had the battery replaced. I
don't like surprises.

Love home-grown tomatoes but have to settle for vine tomatoes (more expensive) at the market. Forget beefsteak -- tasteless. I also eat cherry tomatoes like grapes. My late friend Curt gave me two tomato plants and told me how to care for them and both were a bust. I really tried.

I love to read everyone's gardening comments. My little garden has lots of weeds. They were thriving in the drought.

Sorry to hear that Ted is not doing too well there. You are one busy sort of woman there.
Hope that things will turned out better for all of you in the near future.
Take is slow and one day at a time.

Our life is a constant round of appointments and the pain is back. I will
let you know what the doctor says on Thursday.

I stopped growing vegetables and a lot of flower varieties after I moved to Florida. The sun and heart makes things grow weird.

I tried last year and failed but had good luck this year. I like gardening.

Don't be discouraged. Try a few tomatoes and herbs.

Sounds good. A fall garden isn't an option around here although I will be planting garlic for the first time. Ran into a buddy on Friday who said he harvested 1200 garlic. I figured he sells them, but he said no, just gives them away. Supposedly they are easy to grow and hopefully dry. I use garlic powder (not garlic salt) on almost everything I cook.

I love fresh garlic. I should do that too.

Probably a good decision to not have a fall garden: you deserve a break. I had tomatoes from my little garden for supper tonight and was thinking they aren't nearly as good as the ones from your garden.

different varieties have unusual flavors. I had one celebrity plant and
hope it fruits again because they were the best tomatoes I ever had. They
were a dark maroon color.
