Fall Projects

Henry is coming on Monday to take the white rocks out of the
front of the house that a misguided soul put in there. I
have decided to put knockout roses in that bed.
I got some top soil and some edging yesterday at our local
hardware store.

I finished sealing and staining the wood on the big back
windows and the french doors. I got a new battery for the
car so I won't be left stranded this winter or forced to
use the Suburban. The seat on the Suburban won't adjust to
my height so it requires pillows to push me forward which
is unpleasant.

My duties with the girls will resume Friday which seems an
odd day to start school. I will be taking Ashley to school
and picking up Adrienne and Ashley this year. I have been
fixing their lunch this week because Ellie started teaching
Monday. I hope their breaks coincide.

On another note, we have a funny Chinese store closeby. It sells dollar jewelry and knock off purses. It is next
door to Hobby Lobby and doing a land office business.

You are so ambitious. I don't want summer to be over now that it is cooler.

Autumn is my favorite season because it is so pleasant to be outside. It
just doesn't last long enough.

I hate to spend money on garden chores too, However, Henry is a darling
and I know he can use the money.

You have a longer season to paint outdoors yet yours is done. I have yet to glaze and paint the windows that didn't get done with the siding. Next week will already be below 55 at night and that isn't good. BTW, looks like your weather is moderating. Saw just 80 on the map today....

I can feel fall in the air and that is merciful after the summer we have
endured. We are having a little break from the heat. Last year, it was
cool enough by the end of September and it never gets cold before Halloween.

I am always amazed by how busy you stay. No wonder you are so healthy.

My projects keep me from getting bored. With Ted's health so poor, it is
almost impossible to go any place together so I have my little outings
which are limited to about an h our and a half.

Enjoy your fall cleaning there and do not overdo it.Good luck.

I dried rosemary, basil and parsley today the way you and Mike instructed
me to. I stored it in Ted's medicine bottles from the V.A.

Our front door could use some work. I don't know if we need to sand it down and then apply polyurethane, or what. It is natural wood, and I don't think I want to paint it a color.

You can get stain-sealer in natural in a can and it looks better than
polyurethane. You have to do it once a year.

Starting on a Friday? That is VERY odd indeed....

Very strange indeed.

I am impressed with your diligence in attending to crafts projects. Our friend, Cemetery Gary, sent one of his crew (he is ailing)to cut prune our enormous bougainvilla and now it looks chopped. Gary is much more artistic. I can't do it anymore and even when I did, it never looked right because I couldn't cut the thicker branches. (They use an automatic cutter.) Ed is grumbling because he hates to spend money on garden chores.

oops! I goofed your reply is at the top. I am in trouble because I
planted a vine at the base of the holly and I want it to climb the ugly
thing.
