A Violent Culture

Our citizens are arming themselves at an alarming rate.
I will bet that everyone in my neighborhood owns a gun, even
the blue haired little ladies. Perhaps even more than one.
They are far too easy to get and the criminal element seems
to be increasing and people are frightened by the nut cases
that kill random strangers.

Would you believe that the legislature here is considering
arming college students, or rather allowing them to carry
weapons? The nut that introduced the legislation says it is
so they can protect themselves in case of another mass murder.

This is way too much like the wild west for me and we are
going to accidentally hurt each other.

On the home front, the kids asked us to go out and eat but
Ted didn't want to go and I went with them. We had a nice
time. As if Bobby did not have enough to cope with there is
another indignity. His next to the front tooth just fell
out due to the chemo. He is supposed to see the oncologist
tomorrow. However his hair didn't all leave, it just got
sparse and I noticed it is growing back in. He should
have his final chemo in two weeks. This has been such
a nightmare. Then comes recuperation and another surgery
so it will end up being a year before he is really well.

My next door neighbors are both in trouble. Carolyn has
had another stroke and Sherry is recovering from back
surgery. Here on the blog, Fredo and Mary are ill. I wish
them all a speedy recovery and for Fredo a long remission.

Yes, it's a scary world for sure. Seems to just keep getting worse as well, which doesn't seem possible. Poor Bobby...

It is a scary world. Even in the fifties, we didn't bother to lock our
doors. That would be unthinkable now.

Yes, the world is a scary place. Maybe more guns will stymie the rate of population growth? Ok, so that is sarcasm, but the idea to arm students is so stupid. College students have some of the highest rates of alcohol consumption. Combine that with an immature decision making process and yes, you end up with unintended population control. The students who don't end up dead will end up in prisons.

It is insanity. I can just see a fraternity hazing where they shoot
apples off of a pledge's head.

A week after the theater shooting here in Colorado, a man was arrested for openly carrying a gun into a movie. It upset a lot of people to see it, but he was within his rights, and the police had to apologize. What a life we live right now.

The right to bear arms was necessary when colonists had to protect
themselves from Indians and bears but we are supposed to be civilized now.

I just signed a petition to reinstate the ban on assault weapons. Owning a gun with a permit in your own home is bad enough (so many young children find these guns and have accidents), but thinking it is your right to own and carry a device that can kill 30 people in seconds is insanity and the gun lobby must be stopped.

No one but the military and the police should have assault weapons. They should have a more stringent control over shot guns too. People mostly
hunt for sport which I am totally against and very rarely and in deprived
poverty areas is it for meat.

we gave you a call earlier, did you not get the message?Yes,sadly but you cannot blamed them as most people wants protection.I know that this sounds crazy but it is happening.

No, Ted was napping in the bedroom and I was out with the kids so I guess
we missed your call. I should have looked at my messages but will try to
get back with you today. Home invasions frighten everyone but an alarm
system works well.
