The summer heat is back. It was one hundred degrees yesterday but I enjoyed the rainy cool week prior to this.
Rex is swimming every single minute that he is outside. He loves Celeste's pond.
My neighbor down the road is raising chickens and her eggs are too little to sell so she is distributing them to us and to Celeste. I hate eggs but Ted and Rex are enjoying them. I boiled about a dozen and a half and will devil them for Ted. Rex thinks they spice up his dogfood nicely.
Connie has brought me 3 dozen over the last two days. I will buy them from her when they are ready to sell and be assured of fresh eggs.
I planted my desert garden with lavender and sage brush. I hope it is successful I picked up a lot of pretty rocks from Laura's place and had some from New Mexico that I put in the bed with them.
Ellie loves her new job and has two good schools. The children are not zero English which makes it easier for her.
She said that most of the children she teaches are Oriental Instead of the Hispanic children she was expecting.
I am longing for Nick to deliver my stove. It is still at the propane place being checked out. Not having an oven is limiting my cooking to the microwave and the top burners. I baked cornbread in the microwave and it tasted all right but wasn't crisp and brown outside.
I painted the Oriental table with black lacquer that I sprayed on. It sprayed very easily and now I am going to do the china cabinet with it that I inherited from my mother. It is one of those old, crummy Spanish ones but will look a lot better black. I try to achieve an English Country look which allows for a lot of different styles.
Ted and I both gained at least five pounds on Laura's superb cooking. I almost couldn't fasten my jeans yesterday. Jeri
