Recovery

Last night I attended the longest band concert ever for the
sake of my darling grandchild, Adrienne. I am glad that I
did because she got a trophy for being best 8th grade musician and an award for lettering in band for three years.
She if first chair trumpet.

She was over the moon and she and her best friend, Erika had
their pictures taken with their boyfriends. Adrienne's former boy friend was very good looking but this one is a
real nerd. I think she is much safer with him than with
Dakota who was very sexy looking and reeked of hormones.

Bobby has chemo today. I honestly don't know how he is
brave enough to keep going. He hasn't felt at all well.
I made deviled eggs for him yesterday, he needs the protein.
He isn't eating enough meat.

I sat with my exhusbands widow and her fiance at the concert.
The elderly love birds were sweet. She showed me her engagement ring, which is an emerald. They just couldn't
keep their hands off each other. Love at any age is precious.

Sara says her highschool band is the worst she has ever heard and she can't get them whipped into shape. Her concert was last night too. Her school is in the ghetto
and she has been hit and cursed at as well. She has already
kicked one guy out of band. She is tiny and very pretty
so these highschool boys get ideas.

I am looking forward to a lazy day today and a trip to the
library. I have had bad luck with new writers so I keep
returning to old favorites. I may read The Accidental
Tourist again. It is good for many a belly laugh.

How exciting for Adrienne. You must be so proud.

I am. Adrienne is just wicked enough to be a delight.

Yes, secular prayers for Bobby (hey they work too). I was in the girl's band of Austin High School. We played marching songs during football season and made letters on the field and in the spring we were a concert band. Our spring concerts were well attended and were really very, very good. We played the Overture to the Barber of Seville, and several other involved and commanding pieces. I really don't think the parents and others in the audience felt they had to "endure".

When Linda was in the highschool band, she had an excellent band director.
They played a lot of classical music and won a lot of contests. I am
afraid the middle school band is something of an endurance contest!

I do love them. Ashley was overcome with jealousy over Adrienne's
awards and it sort of surprised me. That's just sisters!

These books I'm getting ready to send you are a mixed bag, but I never send you the ones I think are horrible, just the ones that are readable.

I will be looking forward to the books. Packages are so much fun.

Great about Adrienne, but I sympathize about sitting through the band concert. Believe me, I have been there and done that many, many times; but we do it because of love.
Chemo can make you feel rotten, especially for the first two or three days after you have the treatment. I know exactly what Bobby is going through. He has my admiration for taking chemo and working at the same time. I couldn't do it. I was too prone to picking up infections.

We do savor their triumphs. Bobby is so fortunate to have a supportive
work environment. He feels really bad in the mornings so he doesn't go in
until about noon unless there is a meeting and then he stays and closes
up.

I am reading the Killing of Abe Lincoln by Bill Riley and not too bad.A lot of the history that did not know about.I think that you will find this good reading?

I will look for it at the library. It sounds interesting.

Proud of Adrienne!
I think it is such a mistake to remove funding from the arts in grade school. Every year, I had music and art classes in elementary school and museum trips with my classes, all of which I loved. Getting children involved and appreciating the arts is essential and I know I was very very lucky. Sara has an uphill job, but it is such an important one.
Sending Bobby prayers!

I think an appreciation of art and music is nurtchered in elementary school.
We can use all of the prayers and positive thinking we can get. It is very
strange but he really looks good. He is almost as handsome as when he was
young but I would so much rather see him well.
