Help at Last

Ted has been referred to a pain clinic by our family Doctor
for help with his back. His MRI is scheduled for Monday and
hopefully the injections can start soon afterward. He is
really looking forward to it and if they don't work, he wants
to have surgery. It is hard to know what damage the stroke
caused but the back pain is excruciating. I hope we can
see an end to it.

There is also assistance available from Forest Lab. with the
horrible price of Namenda. It costs 258.00 dollars a month
which I think is appalling. The pharmacist suggested that
I call and ask them because his prescriptions are so high
even though many of them are free from the V.A. and the
Indian Clinic.

I don't see why anyone would oppose Obama care. We need it
desperately. Mit Romney was in Oklahoma this week and our
Governor fawned on him. I suppose she thinks she will get
a lucrative appointment if the Republicans win. She is at
odds with the Indian Tribes over water rights. They want to
conserve water and she wants to sell it. She also wants to
abolish state income tax to coax more industry into the
state. If she does all other taxes will rise and we will
have a heavier tax burden as a result.

Poor Ted. I hope this next treatment works out and helps him!!! That prescription sounds awful in terms of price...

I hate to say it, but of the 4 or 5 cases of back surgery I'm familiar with, none had a good outcome. On the other hand, a buddy had a procedure where they burned some nerve endings. That in combination with fentenyl patches and an occasional injection serves him well. One lesson here is to avoid chiropractors at all costs. The perceived benefits (which could be obtained from message) provide temporary relief but in many cases, do more long term harm than good. I hope Ted finds the appropriate treatment!

It's good Ted will get some relief for his back. If he takes pain meds long term (as my sister is doing) be alert for muddled thinking. Hope he won't be on them a long time. Of course, Sis was spacey to start, so the meds just made that worse.
