A Real Bummer

Yesterday was a real mess. I spent 4 hours on the phone
trying to get Ted's MRI set up sooner because of his symptoms. Then we had torrential rains and one of the sky
lights leaked. This was frustrating.

We watched the news and one small boy was washed away because he was jumping off a bridge into a roaring torrent
of water. His buddy was saved because a passerby was able to pull him out of the creek.

Watching little kids playing in the water just about killed me. Why were their parents so stupid? One older woman was in the creek in her bathing suit while people were stationed around the creek trying to catch whoever washed
down to them. She was asked to get out but the big mystery is why she went in.

The rain started during rush hour and the interstate looked
like a parking lot. Cars were backed up for miles since portions of it were closed due to high water. We had four
inches of rain in 90 minutes.

Our weather is so crazy this year. While people in the East
and Northeast are burning up, our temperature is mostly in the mid eighties which is just right for most of us. I
prescribe iced tea and watermelon.

As luck would have it, it is supposed to be 94 on Saturday and then rain again on Monday. You will be surprised at how green everything is.

I can't believe you are hot in New Hampshire. We always worry about brush fires when it gets dry.

Ok, now I am really worried about Ted. This does not sound good.
Yes, people do the stupidest things! They don't understand how fast a current can be in waist deep water.

I am worried about Ted also. He is seeing the Dr. tomorrow. We need to
get to the bottom of this.

It has been raining every day here and has been hot and muggy. As for the kids, if it's water, they think it's fun. In my teens I learned of a neighborhood boy who jumped off a viaduct (small bridge over land) onto a construction site sand pile, sank and was suffocated.

Boys seem to be more daring. They just do stupid things to prove how brave they are. The boy that was saved was in shock and the firemen couldn't get him to tell them much about it.

My mom's skylight was leaking in January. It took a while to get it fixed. They had to wait for dry weather and we live in a rain forest. Her ceiling needs to be painted now.

We were fortunate. The guarantee on the roof had not expired and they
sent a man right out to fix it. It is like a monsoon here and so unlike any July I have ever seen. It may ruin the wheat harvest.

The weather really had been weird this year--and love the cold watermelon and iced tea idea--I drink a lot of iced tea!

Too bad it is so humid. It is here too. This is the only time that I can
remember that we didn't have fourth of July barbecues.

I heard on the news that you were going to have some flooding or possibility of it. Do the boys love their new yard?

I'm gonna call my Mom. I had no idea it was still raining so much in Oklahoma.

It is surprising to see all the dark green grass. I planted a rosemary
bush and it was so easy because the ground was so soft.

All or nothing.... We've only had .22 inches of rain in the past 21 days. I hope we don't get the shortage all at once. Good luck with the MRI scheduling... I'm still waiting to hear from the glaucoma surgeon. I'd like a few days notice, but I don't know if I'm going to get it.

Isn't that the way it always is? Too much or too little. Right now, I am being grateful for too much because I want to get some shrubs in to get a
good start before winter.

All that rain in Oklahoma sounds so good. I'll be home Saturday. Looking forward to cooler temperatures.
