Post Debate

I don't know who they are going to tell us who won the debate but in my opinion it was certainly Joe Biden who looked serious and presidential, smooth and suave. Ted and I both really like the way he presented facts instead of verbiage. I though Palin performed better than expected and Ted found her likeable. I thought her folksiness had no place in the debate.

I am cooking for our family reunion tomorrow and really looking forward to it. Our cousin from California is coming with her new husband. They are driving so will probably be tired when they arrive. My two children are not going to be able to go this year. This year my grandniece is looking forward to a new little boy in the spring.

Have a great weekend.

I have a complaint about a minor, but irritating habit of Joe Biden's. He rarely looked into the camera and spoke to the audience and mostly looked at the moderator while giving his answers. And, with all due respect to you and Teal, Joe Six-Pack was a term heard a lot during Clinton's first campaign. Northerners say Joe Six-Pack while southerners say Bubba. Bubba is a bit of a pejorative, but essentially they mean a regular guy. I agree, Palin did much better than during the Katie Couric interview. The next day, McCain announced he is pulling out of Michigan entirely. The reason: 16,000 people turned out to see Obama in downtown Grand Rapids the morning of the debate.

You betcha...Sarah certainly is being trained in the Bush Doctrine, so much it reminds me of 2002? Biden answered questions, Sarah didn't. It's wasn't about being smooth, just being qualified. Palin to me is Bush in drag...and that scares the hell outta me...you betcha...

I agree 100%. I also thought her folksiness was inappropriate.

I read a great article about the facts and falacies stated by both candidates posted on the Tampa Trib web page written by an AP reporter. It was very fair- and revealing. Unfortunately, it has strong warnings that it may not be reprinted or redistributed. It would seem that both sides smudged the truth here and there, but many of Palin's statements went quite a bit beyond smudging- like saying that the troop count in Iraq is below the 2007 build up level, when in fact there are presently 17,000 more!

If I hear "you betcha" and "Joe sixpack" and "soccer mom" anymore, I will be vomiting for the next several months.

True.... I personally don't want someone who is smooth and suave. I want someone who is not like all the other politicians.
