Family Reunion

All of us just bring our most fantastic culinary triumphs and catch up on family news. My cousins new husband was a nice looking older man. He was driving a Jag so I guess he was pretty well off. However, I heard him put her down a couple of times and that turned me off. I enjoyed my sisters children and grand children a lot since I only get to see them once a year.

I took a large spiral sliced ham, potato salad and a pecan pie. There must have been 6 kinds of salad, two kinds of cake and an apple pie besides the pecan one I took and a fruit plate. My sister did brisket and a sweet potato casserole and my cousin made a cheese grits casserole and a potato casserole with lots of cheese and sour cream.

On the way home, we stopped at an estate sale that had deteriorated into let's get rid of this stuff because we are tired of being here kind of sale. I bought a super deluxe iron for two dollars, a huge box of lace for 3.00
that I plan to give to Laura(she sews) and a casserole dish for l.50. I am in love with the iron because it does everything automatically. All in all, it was a great day.

The guy criticising your cousin would turn me off in a heartbeat. (I like tealstar's comment.) Sounds like the estate sale was as much fun as the reunion. Yes, it does sound like a great day!

I'd keep an eye on that guy, otherwise, sounds like fun!

I love those fancy new irons. I inherited one that shuts off automatically (is that what yours does?) and comes back on when you shake it. I really, really like that feature. We got a cordless iron from a casino that I haven't tried yet - it can't be too great because it was one of their routine kind of give-aways - but it's an interesting concept - reheats on the base. I don't know how long it stays hot or takes to reheat. When you think about it, that is how those old sad irons our grandmas used worked - they were cordless and reheating base was the cookstove.

I hope your cousin has a serious talk with her new husband. This behavior usually escalates as a marriage matures. She must stand up for herself now. Trust me, once he recovers from her effrontery, he'll respect her more.
I don't have enough family to have a reunion -- except I do have first cousins in Illinois I would love to see. Happy you had a good time.

It does sound very nice, indeed. Men show poor judgment when they are condescending toward women--especially in public. It makes one wonder what they do in private.
