What MyBloggers Means

I have lost track of the exact date when I started
blogging but it must have been at least ten years ago.
It was at a time when I was very isolated, living on a
farm twenty miles from the nearest city. In that time,
I have met Laura, Fredo and Mike and feel that I know the
rest of you almost as well. There is a delightful sense
of community on our blog as we share our joys and our
sorrows with each other.

Some of you have decamped to facebook but we can still
keep up. Someone said it was the same old, same old but
I beg to differ. Kristy has married and had two children,
sadly there have been deaths, accidents and illnesses but
we have rejoiced with each other at the happy times and
shared our grief. An old friend of mine always said that
a joy shared is a joy doubled and a sorrow shared is a
sorrow halved. I have found that to be true.

So tonight, let us drink a toast to Eddie who keeps our
blog up and running. It has meant so much to me over
the years and is a platform for all of us.

Facebook has its uses, but I do not find it as sociable as MyBloggers. That sounds odd. Its info is in snippets, there is no in depth story-telling. I'd rather hear your story. I use Facebook for finding old friends, for targeting right wing public figures and telling them what I think after I have heard them spewing lies on TV. It's great for that.

We love you too and I check in on facebook to see you and the babies.
I am sure that you are one busy lady and I like to see what you are
up to.

It would be really wonderful to get to meet some people on here. This is a unique blog place.

I really treasure having gotten to know Laura and Mike and Fredo face to
face. I also feel I know the rest of you too since we are sincere and
don't go in for false personas.

I do stop in once in a while, but I feel my absence like a sort of betrayal to you all (weird, huh?) so I read posts but usually do not comment. I miss you and Fredo the most.

No way is it a betrayal to blog on this site. You are always welcome
here. Fredo and I are the oldest and we need all the appreciation that
we can get!

FB and mybloggers are quite different and I do prefer the immediacy of fb in real time. I'd probably blog more if I could easily dictate a post to my droid. But by the time I get to the computer in the evening I'm tired and just watch videos on youtube instead. But I still receive notices of your posts in email and I'm otherwise around quite often.

I enjoy your posts immensely. I like the garden videos and the beauty of
up state New York. Your dog is a winner too so don't neglect us for
facebook!

Ever the historian, I found your first post on Blogster.com dated July 10, 2006 at 9:55am. Here's a link. https://www.blogster.com/elderjanememorabilia/ordinary-days That's quite a blogging legacy.

Thanks, I wasn't sure but it has certainly enriched my life! You and
Jennifer and the girls have also even if we don't see each other often.

There's a lot to be said for the familiar faces and we all know each other's stories, so can talk in the shorthand of long-time friends.

That is so true. So much has happened, the flood that tore your life
asunder, the delicate ecology in the canyon and now the hungry bears.
You have had two years of rebuilding.

Yeah I wonder how Eddie is, he never checks in anymore. But I'm glad he still keeps us going! I don't post here often but I do love you all.
