Murder Will Out

Last night I got a frantic call from Ellie telling me to
lock all the doors and set the alarm. Police helicopters
were circling over head and two bodies had been found in
the breezeway of a nearby apartment complex. There were
no details on the news and I suppose the helicopters were
looking for anything or anyone who was suspicious. It was
about half a mile from our house. This morning the news
said it was probably a murder-suicide.

On another front, Rex is sick and can't keep anything on
his stomach so we will be visiting the Vet today. It is
like having a sick toddler since pets can't tell you exactly
what ails them.

He has had rocky mountain spotted fever and still has the
tick borne virus in his blood stream. I am afraid it has
surfaced again. I am just holding my head and cleaning up the vomit.

It's unsettling when these things happen in your own neighborhood.

Stressful times down your way. Looks like life is back to normal--whatever that is!

Some people evidently can't let go.

Glad Rex is feeling better. Give him a kiss from me. We had a murder-suicide here a few years ago. Elderly couple -- the guy's daughter convinced him his wife, her stepmother, should be out of the picture. Neighbors caught him in the act, so he turned the gun on himself. Daughter can't even inherit because of the law governing murder.

Rex is playing and eating today with no more vomiting. I guess the shots
made it seem like a movie. There were seven or eight shots so evidently
he wasn't very good with a gun.

Rex is clinging to his mother but has stopped the vomiting and is able to eat a little at a time.

I keep my doors locked at all times. Poor Rex. I hope he's feeling better soon. When I was three, my grandparents had a German Shepherd named Rex. I'm told I used to ride him like a horse.

Rex seems to have improved greatly and is keeping down small meals. He is having chicken breast and broth tonight.

I agree, it is sooo hard to treat animals and little 'uns when they are unable to let us know exactly, what is ailing them - and nerve wracking too!
I bet it was a little un-settling when you had that message to keep your doors locked last night! I am glad that you now know what had been going on, but it is sad to know what it actually was about.
I do hope, all is ok, with the vet today

We were shocked but it was a classic case of a wife beater. She had had
her protective order removed and he came with a gun and killed her. There
were several witnesses. Unfortunately, he left his little girl an orphan.
She was in day care when it happened. What is it with these men. I worked
in a battered women's shelter for a year and these men never seem to be
able to correct their violent and destructive behavior.

Poor lil Rexy bear... Keep us posted on what's up with him, ok? And SCARY about the bodies so close by!

Rex is eating and keeping it down. We didn't take him because he was so
much improved. Yes, it was scary because until the police had talked to
all the witnesses, we thought the killer was at large. His picture was
pitiful. He was just a skinny 21 year old black guy that apparently
couldn't cope and saw violence as a way out.

Poor puppy! Hope he will be alright.
