Drivin to Wickapedia

I have often thought how much richer my life is because of
the computer. Of late, I have been bringing home old movies
from the library. Mary Queen of Scots and the Lion in Winter. I just had to know more so I immediately went to
Wickapedia to set myself straight.

A very young Anthony Hopkins played Richard the Lion Heart
in the Lion in winter. He had a marvelous voice and presence even as a young man. Timothy Dalton played the
French king and he was extremely good looking. Kathryn
Hepburn got an academy award for her part as Eleanor of
Acuataine. My research pointed that Eleanor and Henry II
were reconciled toward the end of his life.

Mary queen of Scots was good. I was fascinated by the
performance of Glenda Jackson as the wiley Elizabeth I.
Poor Mary chose so poorly when it came to the men in her life.

These old movies were well worth watching for a second time.
They were pretty close to historical fact.

I watch a lot old old movies through Netflix. Like you, I often look up people on my pc. The other night I saw "In the Name of the Father" again. I looked up the Belfast four, and was I surprised to learn that one of them later married Robert Kennedy's daughter!

Mr. Troutbend is always looking things up on the computer after we see a movie or TV show, and he stores it in his little trivia encyclopedia of a brain. I'm very fuzzy about facts and figures, I pretend it's because I'm artistic, but that's not really the case. I've decided I'm so distracted by my kitchen floor that needs mopping I just can't think straight. Hah.

These are excellent movies! I saw 'A Lion in Winter' at the movie theatre (we call it 'the pictures' lol). That film, I remember even encapsulated the 'chilliness' of interior of the castle - which it had to be - probably blinking freeezzzzzing lol.
Mary Queen of Scots I watched on the t.v. - fabulous film (Glenda Jackson, I swear, is the reincarnation, of Elizabeth)! I have always felt a tad sorry, for Mary. I watched a documentary about the monarchy and a disease called 'Porphyria'. It was a disease which King George 111 had.
In this documentary, it showed that as it is another 'hereditery' disease, many of the past monarchs may have also suffered from it - Mary may have been a good contender for this, as she showed very similar symptoms, as recorded by her physicians.
The two movies you chose are exact in the history of the monarchy

I enjoyed them so much. The thing that I will never forget is when Elizabeth I decided to send Dudley and Darnley to Mary for marriage, she knew it would work out in her favor. If she chose Dudley, then she would
have a friend installed in Mary's court and if Mary chose Darnley then Mary
would have a fool for her husband and adviser. Elizabeth couldn't lose.
Glenda Jackson was the very best Elizabeth I have ever seen in a play or
movie. Maybe she was a reincarnation.

Good morning, Jeri! Sounds like you have found something worthwhile to do during this long, cold winter. Enjoy!

We have a few days interspersed with the cold ones. It might be sixty nine
one day and twenty five the next. It makes it hard to get used to the
cold. I guarantee that spring will come.
