The Mouse in the House

All the making noises that sounded like mice (My God I hate the nasty things), proved to be Rex blundering around trying
to find me. He monitors my presence and acts bereaved every
time I leave the house. He is such a sweet devoted puppy.

We got an email from Ruth. She fell down her front steps
and had a miserable Christmas as well. She hates living
alone just like a prisoner in her mobile home. Now that
Dallas is not here, she really needs assisted living but
is too stubborn about being independent. She can spend
money now that Dallas isn't here being economical. We need
to make a trip to Wichita to see her.

My ex-SIL was here today. She has become such a bitter woman. It is true that life hasn't treated her fairly. For
one thing she was hiding behind the door when looks were
given out and resembles a possum. All the men she has ever
been involved with have been takers including Ted's brother.
Her four marriages all ended badly and she ended up being
sole support of her children. She sounds just like Rush
Limbaugh when she gets started on politics. All in All it
wasn't a happy visit.

Rex is picky about his food and now he is even tired of
chicken. We are all nuts about our animals but it worries
me when he won't eat dinner.

It is time to get ready for bed. Our weather is so dry
here that there is a lot of static electricity. A news
person was advocating running dryer sheets over your hair
and body to diminish it.

Happy Friday!

Dogs go through phases of not eating. When he gets hungry enough, he'll eat. Try to abstain from giving him table food.

Take a quick look inside Rex's mouth (including the 'roof') just in case he has a little infection in it - I have had this with a cat before.

we have them every winter.Though this year has been quiet.
Buffy got one a while back.We even had a mouse in our toaster.
Mike parents were over for something.Needed to toast bread, she said what is that smell?Mike looked in the toaster and there it was a burnt mouse.
Guess this turned off the parents on this.
Keep an eye on Rex.To be sure that there is nothing going on there.

No, life is not fair and I wonder about people who keep their front doors unlocked and their wallets (or legs) open only to cry, "Woe is me! 'They' took advantage of me!" I don't like bitter people. I don't like folks who only see the glass half empty and complain bitterly about the half that they drank. I get really perturbed when people whine about and find fault with everyone else. They just don't get it. It is their own attitude that sours life and not the other way around.

People escalate their own bad karma. Your ex sil is the master of her fate. We can't always escape what happens to us, only the way we react to it. In any case, try to persuade her that assisted living in the right facility is a lot like living in an apartment hotel with benefits. You don't give up anything but get help when you need it. Do you have any family or friends in her area who can check on her behalf for some good facilities and perhaps take her to check out one or two?

Re. Rex, give him a hug for me and I know how worrisome it is when animals don't eat. Michael Fox (same name as the actor, yes) is a vet who has a newspaper column. You can Google him, get his contact info and write him. He has a lot of nutritional advice.

We talk to Ruth about Assisted living but she doesn't think she is at that
point yet. She is crippled and has cancer, can hardly walk and is forbidden to drive. She has three cats and I think that is why she won't
move. Her oldest son is very good to her and lives in Wichita also.

I caught two real mice the past two nights. In from the cold. Rex is a great companion, eh? I'm getting out of the house today-- Haircut! And a party at my sister's tonight. Not sure about that.

We have a big yellow cat like Hobbes in the neighborhood and he and Rex
engage for the cat's amusement every now and then. I am hoping he is on
mouse alert because our house backs up to an open baseball field.

I know that worry about when they don't eat the one reliable thing you could count on. You look at that full dish of chicken or whatever and say Now what do I do? I bought a little jar of baby food to see how that would go over, but we haven't tried it yet. Hugs to all of you there.

Yes, when they spurn chicken, what is the next step?

Wow! you don't hold back regarding your ex sis in law hey?
And poor Rex... how old is he again? I wouldn't worry toooo much about him not eating now and then, Tucker doesn't always eat and he is still alive.

That is the gospel truth, Kristy. I should also have said that she has
some redeeming qualities and I will continue to see her because she needs
a friend...even a brutally frank one.
