A Lazy Sunday Morning

We are exhausted from taking the children to the circus
yesterday. Adrienne and Ashley each took a friend and we
loaded them into our old Suburban and gave them the best
time that we could. This is probably the last time that
grandpa will be able to take them anywhere because his health
is so poor. We were rewarded by their joy and by the good
that the Shrine does. It makes up in part for the unnatural
lives of circus animals.

I went to a garage sale and found a service for 26 of light-
house dishes for the amazing sum of l0 dollars, in the
afternoon. I bought it, thinking I could split it with Sara
or Laura after I had a big party. It took forever to wash
it all and put it away.

Afterward, I went to Bobby's house and ate a hamburger. I
was encouraged that he was eating and that Ellie ate too
because she is almost anorexic. She is in a lot of pain and
I think she is beginning to realize that she has to take a
tranquilizer all the time. We had fun and Bobby joined
Ancestry.com and we had some revelations that interested
us. Ted was just to tired to go.

Henry is coming to mow the yard Monday and he is sorely
needed. I have done it a couple of times but I don't have
his expertise and it doesn't look as nice. I have to get
two more tomatoes and plant some squash today. Poor Rex,
he has lost his holes to squash plants but he did a nice
job of killing the weeds and tilling the soil. I do
have hopes for some fresh vegetables this summer.

Fortunately I am not one who gambled: We are expecting a low of 12 tonight. Forsythia are expected to be a loss along with some other early leafers. The apple growers are using their fans and everything they have to try and save the blossoms... It's not going to be a good night...

Oh, how rough it is to go back to winter. There will be no freezes here for
the next l2 days and we should be out of the woods by then.

I have gone as far as I can with Ancestry.com. No new revelations in 2 years. It must be very hard for Ted to accept that he can no longer do what he used to do. Remind him how blessed he is that his mind is intact. Mine will probably go because I already struggle with words when I talk.

The genealogy dept of some libraries has boat records showing who disembarked. I think that would help some of us get out of the muddle.

PBS had two hours worth of ancestry searching programming last night with Harry Connick, Bradford Marsalis, Sen. John Lewis, and the mayor of Newark, N.J. The discoveries we make are fascinating.

Interesting to say the least.

Poor Ted... glad things are going ok for your son though....

He is weak from the chemo and I don't see how he manages to work everyday
but I think it helps keep his mind occupied.

Somehow men are able to mow the lawn in a diagonal or other pattern, and the best I can do is go round and round. I put weed and feed on my grass last fall, and there was snow, so I'm hoping that it does some good. It's too dry now to fertilize.

It has been an amazing winter. I fully expect the squash to spring up. I have 3 tomatoes in all and high hopes.

So sorry Ted continues to feel poorly. I hope he was warmed by the sight of grandkids having a great time.

It is never easy recovering from a stroke. He loved watching the kids have
fun.

Glad that things turned out well for you there in entertaining the children and then some.
Lighthouse dishes sounds interesting.New England background?
Well maybe it is time for Ted to just take it easy there.
Have a good day and best to the families there.

Yes, Ted's brother is coming to help today. He is a sweetheart.

It won't be long before we are mowing too. At least three (probably 4) weeks early. Just what we need now that gas broke four bucks here in NY.

Did you do any planting yet? I took the gamble and put out squash and
tomatoes.

I cannot remember when lawns were being mowed (mown?) this early in northern Ohio, but this morning the cacophony of motors is overcoming the sound of the church bells.

It is going to be a long summer. We had the door open and the ceiling fans
going yesterday.
