I have just finished a book by Curtis Sittenfeld called, "An American Woman". It is very interesting and well written and is not a biography but you can't help knowing that it is about the Bush family and Laura in particular. The main character is a librarian from a middle class family who falls in love with a wealthy man. His mother, Priscilla is certainly recognizable as Barbara Bush. Her husband buys a baseball team, goes in to politics, is elected governor and then is a two term president who is very unpopular. He is a born again Christian who had an alcohol problem.
How much more explicit can you get? Maybe she needed a plot. It is long but she did an excellent job of constructing her characters and their internal dialogues.
It was fun to read and held my interest. You might like to try it.
The cold is back with us and it makes me just want to snuggle up with China, (being a seventeen year old cat, snuggling is what she does best) and read.
