All of us have difficulties but it hurts to see bad things
happen to good people as they inevitably do. Some people
just sail through life with the wind at their back and others are sorely tested. I see no virtue at all in suffering as some moralists would have us believe.
Henry, our sweet handyman has been dealt a terrible blow. He
has no health insurance and he and his wife aren't old
enough for medicare. His wife was diagnosed with breast
cancer and due a mastectomy last week. They did a cat
scan and found another tumor in her lungs so they are
postponing her surgery. In the meantime, he is quietly
going crazy with worry. He wasn't supposed to show up today,
but he came to mow the lawn, just to stay busy while waiting
on the biopsy of the tumor on her lung.
They found the first tumor in August and it seems to me that
if they had not had to go through finding assistance with the
medical bills that it would have been done a lot faster. I
gave him a huge tip and I know that Phyllis did too because
there are so many expenses that you don't count on while
you are hanging around the hospital. He said they went at
6:30 a.m. and were waiting around until 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. That is upsetting and very tiring.
When Ted was in the hospital, it helped so much for his
brothers to stay with him while I went home and took care
of Rex...just to be out and normal for awhile.
Henry and his wife are just good, honest, salt of the earth
human beings. They work hard and mind their own business
and give others a helping hand when they can.
I know that life isn't fair but I hurt for them. They have
been together so many years. I hope he and his family can
stay strong through this ordeal.
Bobby has the re-connection surgery on Halloween, the same
day Ted has an appointment with the neurosurgeon. Wouldn't
you know his surgery would be changed to that day! We aren't looking for complications but I would like to be in
both places at once.
