The Heat Finally Broken

Yesterday we had a high of 86 and it was wonderful. A storm
came through bringing rain with it. We didn't even turn on
the air conditioner until past noon. It was a little
steamy but so glorious to have a change from l00 plus
temperatures.

I baked the fruit loaf with cottage cheese that Laura
posted and a batch of dilly bread. Both were really good, the dilly bread especially good when it is hot and the
fruity bread good anytime. It felt so good to be in the
kitchen cooking without suffocating.

80 is bliss indeed.

Temperatures in the kitchen dropped so you felt obligated to turn on the oven and bring it back up again?

It was fun to be able to bake again.

I hope you and your lady did not get caught in the tragedy in
Indianapolis since you were going to the fair.

we are very cool here.Last night it was in the upper forties and felt good.
Weekend will be the same with rain coming in the last part of the weekend.
Speaking of weekend have a good one and the dilly bread sounds silly.
Oh!all right had to put that in.

dilly bread does sound silly but is it ever good hot and slathered with
butter.

We are still sweltering here in Big D....and still no rain.

It was pleasant outside all day today and the ground was still wet. 86 does seem cool when you have been sweltering in l09 degree heat.

Here, too, the change to cooler, humid-free weather is so welcome. Barely 80 degrees — blissful!!

This has been the hottest summer we have ever had in Oklahoma. Not nice.

Yeah, it seems cooler here this morning as well --- we shall see! Sounds like you have been cooking up a storm.

We are still feeling the effects of the storm. We had a great Sunday.

Pretty daunting when 86 is "cool" -- too bad my culinary efforts don't always meet my expectations.

I know. When you have been literally baked, just a little relief is good.
