Good News!

My son's cancer has not spread to other organs and we are
trying to be positive. He has an appointment with the
Surgeon Thursday and we will go from there. He has put himself on a liquid diet with a lot of vegetable juices and
fruit juice, because the first thing I did was buy him a juicer. I hope he will stick with good nutrition after this
is all over.

I finished the food shopping today and made no bake cookies
with a twist. I used walnuts, dates and milk chocolate chips
and a little coffee but it didn't make them much better than
the regular kind with peanut butter and cocoa. Most of my
cooking goes to my kids and Sara now that she has her own
household.

I so appreciate your concern for us this troubled Christmas
season.

My buddy discovered that he had bladder cancer when he began ah.. well, it wasn't pleasant. He was exposed to agent orange in Nam, and bladder cancer is what it causes, so he had to get his paperwork in order with the Navy. They were about to start treatment for that when they discovered that his prostate was also 40% cancerous, so the plan had to change. In he mean time, he developed a kidney stone and went into the hospital where he contracted MRSA and all treatment was suspended for six weeks while he was having antibiotics transported to his heart through an implanted tube. Bladder treatment finally started and he did Ok for the first two trips. He goes every Tuesday for six weeks. He gets tired and had another uninary infection, but as they say, so far, so good. Didn't mean to get into all that detail, just to say: Watch out for infections and other unexpected side issues. Good luck.

So far, so good! Keep your spirits positive, send him our good wishes -- it helps to know people are rooting for you even if you don't personally know them.

Yes, this is good news. Now, to await the surgery. A liquid diet before Christmas? They likely will not do the surgery until after, but healthy is always good.
