Afterward

I am really kind of proud of myself that I was able to keep
two households going and the children fed and cared for.
The worst part was staying there until late at night when I
really wanted to be home for all my rituals and routines.
I am a little spoiled.

I cooked tremendously big meals at night. Ted and I are
not fond of mashed potatoes and gravy but the kids love
them so we had them every evening. They are also little
carnivores and I didn't resort to meatloaf until the last
night. I cooked enough to take some to put in the fridge
for Bobby when he came home at night. We had ham and pork
tenderloin and lemon chicken and in desperation Italian
sausage in buns like hot dogs and more. I made the
Paula Deene bacon cheeseburger meat loaf sans french fried
onions. I asked Ted if he liked it and he said it was just
too much trouble and not worth it. I did like it but thought it was pretty mybloggers.

Ellie will get to stay home today and tomorrow. She needs
the time to recoup. I am enjoying being at home and only
cleaning my own house.

I will be thinking of those of us who have problems and
of Fredo and Mike and their fabulous vacation.

Oklahoma City has a new baby elephant. It weighed 304
pounds when it was born at our zoo and has been given a
clean bill of health. It looks adorable in the pictures and
we will get to vote on the name. It was tucked firmly into
it's mothers side in the picture. I have forgotten the sex
but I think it was a little girl.

You are truly to be commended for all of your help to your son and grandchildren. I know what you mean about missing your personal evening rituals. Now, life can return to normal, and those rituals will help restore you.

I applaud all your efforts and send you a (((HUG)))!
Baby elephants are so cute. Elephants are just fascinating, immensely intelligent and sensitive. Their connections and bonds with each other are deep. The PBS series NATURE recently aired a marvelous program about elephants, "Unforgettable Elephants." Hope you got a chance to see it, or, if not, check it out online: https://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/unforgettable/emotions.html

The Paula Deene recipes are over the top. I intended to make her gooey
chocolate cake for Adrienne's birthday but the other grandmother brought
her a fabulous looking cake. I can't believe it wasn't eaten but it sat
in the refrigerator and as far as I know only had a couple of pieces cut
out of it.

YAY I am glad you survived the turmoil! I totally hear ya on rituals that you are used too, I am the same way... Glad things are getting back to normal. What name are you going to suggest for the baby elephant?

The zoo is going to give us a 3 or 4 name choice to vote on. The two big
mama elephants are named Chandra and Aiesha.

A new baby elephant is a wonderful way to build enthusiasm for the zoo. Getting to name it will be fun too.

The zoo is totally different now and the distances are vast between
attractions. Next time we go, we are going to take the train to the
big cats and the elephants. The meer cats were hilarious.
