A Couple of New Stats Features

I am just testing a couple of new statistical features here on MyBloggers. On the left sidebar, just under the "My Friends" section of each blog POST, you will notice a new section with the words "Visitors to this page also liked". This is a 3rd party utility that does this: "...suggests other pages on your blog or that may interest your readers. It does this using a sophisticated algorithm called Collaborative Filtering.

For example, a visitor to your blog may view one of your blog entries about coral reefs. Feedjit knows that 10 other visitors to your blog who liked this blog entry visited 2 other entries you wrote about coral reefs. So it suggests these 2 pages to your new visitor."

OK, another item I am trying out is on the front page when you click on the "Recently Online" button in the lower right. It is a mapping tool also by "feedjit.com". I am just testing these for the time being and may remove one (or both). I am not a big fan of 3rd party utilities on the site...especially ones where on-click a user is taken away, but these were kinda cool.

That is it for now...let me know if you have any comments. BTW, I have a question...How many of you go to the mybloggers.com home page on a regular basis? I am trying to better understand how users navigate around the MyBloggers.com website.

I am new here but have blogged before. I have the homepage bookmarked so I go there fist. For advertising purposes you can assume that most others do the same, your traffic can be easily calculated. I would like to know if your site always runs slow? I feel like I am on dial-up when I am here. Everything else is cool so far. I like the layout.

Yeah, I go on there to see who's been on recently and who may be on now. Oh and to check most recent posts.

I go there to find out if any of my online friends are on, as well as to browse through blogs I haven't visited yet.

I go there and just go down the row looking at others blogs, see what others are writing about. Its a different group of people all the time so I sample a wide variety.

OK enough is enough - This is what you need to get people talking in the chat room 'A Big banner' across their avator saying "CHATING" - I feel this would work a treat.

I go to the home page all the time to get to the recent articles link. and to see who is online. do you think we could have something to show who is in the chat room, its lonely being the only person in there. could we also install somethign so when an unwanted blogster comes to my blog she gets an electic shock?

I like the visitors to this page part. I think that's pretty clever. A really unusual feature.Great job...again, Eddie!

In the old days, I went straight to my blog and visited first people who visited me, then my most recently online buddies. For some reason, probably because I got to mybloggers before most of the other refugees, I logged into the home page, and that became a habit. I sill look for new (old) faces on the home page, then read most recent posts.

It's a great Idea and good for advertising each others blogs, as it happens I need more visitors, It also lets us know what kind of things people like reading about which helps
I had a thought this morning, I visioned a voice speaking 'Welcome to MyBloggers.com - Sharing made easy' each time we logged in, thought that would be a neat Idea, something no other blog has.

verah cool Eddie. I go directly to the home page (I have a shortcut to it on my desktop) then I go to my blog to see who has commented, or to write or to messages/emails then to recent articles. something you might want to try if you can, mebee some sort of indicator that someone has commented on yer blog. or do we have one of those already? well, yer doin' a bang up job, Eddie.

I like the "also liked" feature but how does the map work? I can't get myself to show up on it.
comment by nittineedles on Feb 27, 2008 1:43 PM ()
I'm there all the time to check out who's on line, new articles and to get back to my own blog. The last one's a bit of a nuisance.
