Mybloggers Upgrades Needed?

Reaching out to the users here (albeit a small bunch) to see what feature(s) might be important to add to the MyBloggers platform.

What is lacking here? What might make this better than other platforms? Why are you here? Is MyBloggers even needed?

I am obviously not trying to compete with Facebook, etc., but users who are here...come for a reason I suppose.

I am aware that more users will help give the platform a better feel, but users might come if there is perhaps something here that is better than the other platforms.

Some ideas:

- Messaging system (chat)
- Make this private platform (invite only)
- Make the platform more like Facebook (look, feel, functionality)
- ???

So, what are your thoughts? Try and be specific if you have an idea.

BTW…I just saw that Blogster.com is back up.

I'd like to be able to reply to comments in a FB manner. Also, ditto, on making it easier to upload photos.

I would like to be able to add a photo to replies, and it would be nice if one could add photos to an album feature, so all the post photos could be in one place.

I am doing my best to invite people to come visit us and start blogging, and to encourage any greasy pals I come across to come back and write again.

Thanks, Eddie, for all you do for our fun blog home!!

Aren’t you sweet Eddie, wondering how to help us out here. How do you get money? By ads? More ads more money? Or is there 0 money and we are your charity case? If so, you simply rock.
Anywho - adding pictures is annoying. It can be figured out, but it’s a 12 step process. I may exaggerate a tad.... haha
I am happy to read my friends posts here and would be happy to add some others that might be interested. This group is pretty cool as is though IMO. This is open to the public, right?
Happy Sunday!

Without repeating the good suggestions that others have made, I have a few issues that are personal to me. But as usual, if it matters to one person, it probably matters to others.

Since most of us are geezers and you don't plan to get as big as fb, maybe you could target the geezer market. I could spend more time reading posts if the print was easier to see or if the screen reader (with a better voice) was restored. Martin and Marg used to type in a larger font and that was really helpful. Even increasing the default point size by 1 or 2 would probably make a big difference.

Also, I sometimes post to fb because adding pictures is as simple as uploading. Is it possible to have software that would automatically resize pictures?

Thanks

It would help if some of the older people who were here or whose picture is on the left would come back, interact more with us like honeybugg did. I think we should each be able to invite in 1 or 2 people who we would fit in with those who are here.
Do we make mybloggers exclusive or open it to whoever? All the other sites do the latter while I really don't know any who do the former--and snob appeal works.
By the way most of blogsters former members have not returned after their being 'closed' for a month--it is now, basically, all right wingers ranting and raving against liberals.

I don't have a lot of expectation of this site - happy with how it is.

We had chat in the past and nobody used it. I don't use Chat on Facebook, either. Jeri and I use the current MyBloggers message system every single day to correspond, and it's much better for that than the messaging style in Facebook. Yes, we could do it in our email, but I like having a place dedicated to our correspondence.

I think the reason MyBloggers will struggle to expand is there are so few of us and we are so comfortable with a fairly limited range of topics - nobody is writing essays on climate change or how to bake a cake, etc. that might be of more general interest. And it is generally a safe haven from politics - nobody gets too carried away expressing views because we know not all of our members totally agree.

We don't have a diverse membership age-wise, or interest-wise. Someone new coming in might think it's pretty boring, but on the other hand, it's a blank slate where they can post about whatever they want and create their own niche, bring in their own like-minded group of friends, talk amongst themselves.

But regardless of how many members there are, MyBloggers means the world to all of us.

I'll think about it some more and let you know if I think of something.

we have all bonded and formed a support group so let's make it private by invitation only from the people we now have or those who want to come back. Our members need to blog more, that would make the site more interesting.
