Pres Obama's Speech

I just watched President Obama's speech and what I heard was something that was very positive and I think should be given a chance to work.
Then the idiots on Fox and the GOP start shit-canning his message which is so frickin' frustrating, if the people dont start seeing how the Republicans are determined to wreck the country just to negate President Obama's presidency then Americans deserve what they get.
Here's how I see it, as an outsider looking in....and this is the general consensus around the world, not just mine.
What is wrong with a political party that does not care about the middle-class, the less fortunate, the people who have been struggling since THEIR party put America where it is in right now?  (isnt this what it's like in countries that are ruled by dictators?)
Why do they continue to fight for the wealthy millionaires and billionaires and the corporations who are making obscene profits on the backs of the average persons?  The Bush tax cuts that favor the rich has been in place for how many years now? And how exactly  has it helped the average and the middle-class?  How has it helped the unemployment situation? Wasnt it supposed to encourage the wealthy to expand their businesses to create more jobs?  Where's all the jobs they've been encouraged to create since Bush gave them this windfall?
Do the millionaires and billionaires really care about the unemployed? Do they care about those people who have lost their homes and their jobs? Really?? Do they??  Do the millionaires and billionaires really care about what the Republicans continue to blather about...the debt the future generations will be burdened with?
Here's the deal, when you've got heaps of money in the bank (as millionaires and billionaires have), why would you worry about what happens two generations away when you're not going to be around anyway?  Your children and grandchildren will inherit your wealth so what is there to worry about?
The Republicans are USING the ''debt'' thing as an effective scare-tactic that does not affect the wealthy, it's as simple as that.
If the President's jobs plan is put into action, and done effectively and efficiently, there is no reason why it will fail to put the economy back on the right track. Yes, you have to spend the money to put the infrastructure works into operation, but it will generate heaps of jobs for the unemployed, America's infrastructure will be improved, improvement of infrastructure will lead to efficiency in every single level and efficiency will lead to growth and growth will lead to wealth and wealth will lead to the great economy America enjoyed in the past.
How many super rich people agree with the notion that ''you have to spend money to make money"...that is just the way it is and any politician who thinks they can fix the economy without spending any money is either delusional or just think the people are too stupid to know better. Are these the politicians Americans want to be running their country?
I hope there are still a few reasonable Republicans in Congress who will use their common sense, a few who love their country more than they hate President Obama.  In the end, it will be to their benefit if the people can see that they do care and will put the welfare and the country's best interest ahead of any political ambitions and aspirations.  Otherwise, what's the difference between these selfish politician and the tyrants who are now being deposed everywhere in the middle-east?
It doesnt matter which party is running the country...Republican or Democrat. The fact of the matter is, America is in serious trouble and something needs to be done to turn it around.  This is not the time to put politics ahead of the economic welfare of the whole country.
The argument about the debt is pure politics, scare-mongering tactics to generate votes from seriously concerned people who buy into all the rhetoric. Nobody has a crystal ball. Nobody can really see what the future holds.  If the economy and unemployment situation is fixed TODAY, it will improve the prospect for the future. A good economy will generate growth and wealth and income which will reduce the debt and deficit further down the line. Any common-sense thinker would be able to see that.
Fix the problem and when the country is back on it's feet and the economy is growing and people are employed and infrastructure is once again fixed and effiicient, then you can afford to go back to running for office. America should stand out as a model for the rest of the world, to show that politics and self-interest falls very far behind what's good for the country and it's people. Otherwise it is no different to Libya, Syria, and other countries run by dictators who have raped and continue to rape their country's wealth and resources for their own benefit.
That's my two-cents worth anyway.

thanks Solitaire, happy to contribute my thoughts as an outsider. At the ''other place'' I get told to mind my own business and focus on my own country rather than yours....many idiots who still dont get the fact that what happens in the US affects everyone else around the world.

I think one reason many of the Republicans in office insist on kissing up to the millionaires etc. is before they got elected to office they were just a bunch of pretentious losers, but now they are the friend of the rich people because they have some power. And the way is paved for them to get rich, too. They could say: "Two years ago I didn't now what a rich people wuz, and now I are one, and as G is my witness, I'll never go hungry again."

I agree, and most of them dont really have any idea whatsoever what it's like to be on welfare or losing their job or their home, therefore they have no empathy towards anyone less fortunate. There's a passage in a book somewhere () that says...."the mighty will fall and the meek shall inherit the earth".....I think it's just plain karma.

I agree totally and have been saying most of this, and progressive news programs have been doing the same for quite some time now. Well-meaning citizens who buy the Republican agenda are not truly informing themselves and are, perhaps, in the closet about their own racism and it "feels good" to think Obama is at fault. I hope Obama can persevere and get his agenda through. It is the country's future that is at stake. Thanks for posting this. It's nice to hear from you.

Thank you Teal, I pop in once in a while but havent done much blogging at all lately.
I agree with your comment, those who swallow all the crap the Republicans put out there should be ashamed of themselves for not having the common sense to see exactly what it is....talking points crap. I'll borrow money and bet if they were in office, things would not be any different at all...in fact it could even be worse for everyone except the wealthy. I hope President Obama starts getting more aggressive and pushes his agenda to the absolute limit. He's been vilified enough for it anyway, so he might as well.

There is NO "Debt crisis." It is/was a political buzzword to be the leading edge excuse for fighting all of the Democrats' legislation. The handle was the debt ceiling law. The US is the only major nation with such a foolish mechanism. The Republicans and Fox just cannot come around to accepting a black (actually half-black) president of the United States. It is all about prejudice and re-election cash.

My sentiments exactly Jon. The debt crisis is a very handy tool they use to hoodwink people into believing the end of the world is coming if this administration spends money. It's absolute crap and they should be ashamed of themselves for having so little regard for the people's common-sense. Although racism is nowhere near as rampant as it was during the segregation era, it's got a long way to go until it's diminished to a point where it is no longer noticeable. I think President Obama's election to the highest office is the most awesome thing that's ever happened.

I did like his constant saying that the Republicans approved this and approved that, etc., and now let's see what the Republicans do if anything!!

The republicans should change their name to the Obstructionist Party.

Unpatriotic traitors more like it John. They want to see America fail under this administration....they have no regard for their country whatsoever....other less democratic countries would call in subversion.
