Just My Opinion (Us Politics)

I'm an outsider looking in and before I got interested in US politics I had absolutely no idea about Republicans/Democrats or Conservatives/Liberals.  I was never into politics in my own country, I voted based on which party promised to give me something I wanted or needed at the time. That's when I learned that politicians don’t have to keep their promises and will do pretty much what they wanted, to serve or fulfill their own agendas.

When I got interested in US politics.....when Barack Obama announced his candidacy for the top job....I didn’t know or even care which party he belonged to.  Like most people around the world I felt it was going to be a historic event and I wanted to enjoy the concept of America finally having its first non-white president.

I started blogging and got involved in discussions and debates with political bloggers and that's when I learned which side I would not be caught dead supporting.

Honestly, I just don’t get their perspective on issues at all.  I guess the first clue should have been when George Bush decided to invade Iraq.  I was completely and totally against the whole thing from the very beginning. It was even before I knew he was a Republican.  I kept screaming at the news shows......SADDAM HUSSEIN DOES NOT HAVE WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION.....SADDAM HUSSEIN HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH 9/11!!!!!!

When I started getting into heated debates with Republicans/Conservatives I found out how ugly and vicious they are.  I'm not saying Liberals are not capable of such attitudes but I have yet to find one in any of the sites I blog at, that are as ugly or vicious or just as ignorant.  A few here will know the bloggers I am talking about.

Here are some of their most outstanding (mind-numbing) ''qualities'' and every American should take into consideration when they go to the polling booths.

9/11 happened on their watch.

The years of hemorrhaging billions of dollars financing two wars originated from their administration.

Global Economic crisis was caused by and happened on THEIR watch

Global Warming is a hoax according to them. (They will never prioritize environmental issues no matter how destroyed the planet gets).

President Obama is Kenyan....even though his mother has never been to Kenya.

Pro-life, anti-abortion but pro death penalty and pro guns.  (This one has been an enigma to me from day one)

God-fearing, bible bashing, sanctimonious, holier than thou....but the worst bigots and racists I have ever come across.  (Rush Limbaugh/Glenn Beck)

Advocates for Capitalistic greed and corruption but dead against sharing the nation’s wealth or helping the less fortunate and needy.

When I sit through a Republican Presidential Candidate debate and listen to Bachmann and Cain and Perry and the others, for some reason I sit there and cant stop shaking my head.  Are they for real? Seriously???  I need to stop watching those debates….I  just don’t need the aggravation.

Here’s my opinion for what its worth……..If the majority of Americans have any common sense at all, President Obama is safe and will have a second term.

I love your non-biased opinion. For the life of me, I can't understand the thought processes in Republican minds (I'll forgo the adjectives). Despite our founder Eddie and a few others, I'm proud to be in the company of fellow liberals here at MyBloggers. This includes you!

Do you mind if I share your blog on Facebook? Maybe some people over there will listen to an Aussie more than will a fellow American.

I have no problem with that Joan, go right ahead.

I always enjoy hearing about how the rest of the world views the US of A. Blog about it anytime, but next time, please don't hold anything back!

BTW, I think you mean bible-thumping, not bible-bashing.

I figured it might be something like that.

I have friends on the other side and most of us manage to separate politics from personalities.

lol....I got into trouble at blogster for NOT holding it back.....I lost a few ''friends'' when I started ''discussing'' US politics. I didnt know some of those ''friends'' were conservatives/republicans....hehehe.
In the US it is bible-thumping, in Aus it's bible bashing.....both give me the shits....

What a short honeymoon we had when Obama was elected, and some of us entertained the thought that perhaps we had come a long way. The election only served to inflame latent and hidden racism. I still do not think this is what this country is. I think this faction gets tremendous play in the press. What is sad is that the non-haters have been misled by Fox News and by the tremendous amounts of money from large corporations and the Koch brothers deliberately slanting the facts and frightening people into voting against their own best interests. John McCain was interviewed this morning and I don't even remember what he said, but, of course, he wasn't complimentary about anything being done by Obama. He's a total sell-out. At one time, he seemed a reasonable Republican. But the prize twisted his head and his integrity and I blame him for elevating Sarah Palin to a position of national prominence. I can only hope that the Republican sabotage of needed legislation won't go unnoticed. In Florida, our Republican governor has a very low approval rating. I don't know why he was elected at all since he was the head of a hospital corporation whose chief executives are now in prison for Medicare fraud. He skated on that one, I don't know how. Didn't the voters know? I am running on ... xx, T

Teal, it is easy to explain how Scott got in--one word--MONEY--and he has plenty of it--I think he spent some obscene amount (want to say $75 mil but that WOULD be worse than obscene!!!)--now he is saying he didn't promise 700,000 NEW jobs--that he would save 700,000 jobs!
Had to look it up--sad but you can buy a political office in USA!
'quoted Rick Scott as saying in total he spent $78 million of his own money on the campaign.'

The silly thing about it is, the rest of the world sees and knows what Pres Obama has achieved and is trying to achieve. The only ones who seem to deny he has achieved anything at all are the nitwits at the last Republican Candidate debate. I dont know if it is gall or sheer stupidity when they stand there and say the things they do and honestly believe their lies or half-truths or plain bs is being swallowed by the majority of the people. They are either insulting their audience or themselves.

I was stationed overseas when I was in the Army, a tour in Korea and one in Germany. It's amazing the insight you get to the way people were raised to how they picture your country. Some concepts are spot on, where others just leave you wondering where do they get such idea's?

I'm not sure I understand what you are saying...in relation to this article I mean.

The Republican debates have exposed most of those candidates to the public. Now we can all see how they have compromised their positions in order to cater to the right-wing fundamentalist nuts that have captured that political party. I watched two of their "debates," mostly for the comedy content. I think the one who is truly mindless is Rick Santorum, a defeated senator from Pennsylvania. I can't imagine why he would run for President and so expose his low I.Q.
comment by jondude on Oct 23, 2011 6:12 AM ()
funny you would say that about Rick Santorum, whenever I see him being interviewed I get the same opinion, he thinks he can win nomination just by dissing Pres Obama instead of laying out his own policies on what would fix the problem. Yes, I consider him to have a low I.Q. indeed.

I feel as an American citizen I have a right to disagree with the President and his policies, but I think that's where it should stop. There is no need to get into personal or family issues, for when you start to engage in that rhetoric you lose sight of the original issue you were discussing. Also mud-slinging and or name calling has no place either, if you can't conduct an intelligent conversation without using that then you shouldn't be debating in the first place. As my pal Joe Friday use to say.."just the facts ma'm".

'Also mud-slinging and or name calling has no place either,' Anytime or anyplace!!!!
reply by greatmartin on Oct 23, 2011 8:29 AM ()
I agree wholeheartedly....not only that but you also lose credibility yourself if you cant hold a debate or conversation without turning into an ugly person. You do much more damage to yourself than to those you are targeting with your ugliness.

You commie, liberal, socialist furiner--what do you know?!?!?!? KIDDING!!
The older I get the more confused I get about politics--it almost seems people have forgotten right from wrong or feel 2 wrongs make a right!!!
I read some political blogs and, like you, just shake my head--unbelievable.
Granted Democrats weren't 'nice' and/or polite to and about Bush but the animosity, yes the hate, the "I don't care what happens to people as long as we get rid of Obama" towards their president is shocking to this old man who has been around--and makes me very sad.

There's a profile on facebook called The White House and it has some 408 photographs in their gallery/album of President Obama and others and the goings-ons both political or personal. There's some really lovely photos of The First Lady and the two young ladies Sasha and Malia Obama and Bo, their dog. I went through all 408 photographs and enjoyed looking at them but BOY OH BOY!!!!!....you should read some of the really ugly, disgusting, hateful comments posted by bigoted haters...even posts on the ''nice'' photos that were non-political. George Bush had haters yes....but they were targeted more at his policies, and not many were as ugly and disgusting as the personal attacks on Pres Obama and his family. Disgusting bigoted racist comments that make my blood boil.
