Post Op and Tid Bits
Went to Moffitt for post-op this morning, left at 6 a.m. That really is bodily annoying if anyone knows what I mean. Great news. I don’t even have to take tamoxifen, the drug that further suppresses estrogen. It is deemed not needed. Next follow up is June 13 with the radiologist. I don’t expect there to be anything to discuss. It is routine. And after that, 6 months, on Dec. 2. Huzzah and all that.
One of the clerks setting up my appointments was commiserating with Ed about the long drive -– 300 mi. round trip. And he said lengthy driving never used to be such a drag when he was 40. And I said, “Wait a minute, you’re not 40? You LIED to me?†To Tiffany (yes, that was her name), I said, “I thought I was getting a toy boy. Can you beat that?â€
Ed bought Norman Love truffles to give the staff. That gesture was dearly appreciated. I have never tried them. Ed said he would get me some too.
On the way back, I amused myself by reading signs and bumper stickers. One said, “How’s my driving? Call 1-800-Eat Shit.†Ed said instead of what it actually said, I should write “Bite Me†because he wants me to be ladylike (or as I see it enduring a living death). We stopped off at a discount mall and Ed bought two pairs of pricey slacks for a fraction of their cost at a Sax store. And he bought me a Coach bag. I think he got spend-thrifty because of the good news, and when you are giddy with relief, it seems money is not an obstacle.
Then we stopped at Susan’s so he could get his new slacks shortened and I had a chance to cuddle Sally, the maltese mix who behaves like a cat. She stayed on my lap and then segued over to Ed’s lap, where I think she was deciding she could live and then it was time to go.
After that Ed took us to a sit-down early dinner at Chen’s and there was left-over so I don’t have to worry about his snack addiction tonight.
By then I was getting antsy for the cats. I rounded them up, one by one, and gave them a hug and kiss and felt better about everything because that is what animals do for you. Nadine came over at 9 a.m. this morning to give Brunswick his epilepsy medication and, to avoid hunting for him without luck, just brought along her husband, Mickey, who walked in the door and called out “Brunswick†and the kitty came trotting out for one of his favorite people. Mickey said he would like to trade Ziggy (short for Ziegfeld), a sweet creamsicle colored tabby, but not as wonderfully affectionate, for Brunswick.
Not such a bad day all in all.
