Down Time

It appears everybody here at mybloggers is too busy to be on the computer. Not many posts or readers. Admittedly, it is the "slow season".

In fact, as I write this, I have "house guests". My daughter, Emily, Nate, and son Jensen (Jonny) stayed overnight. Long story, but I'm happy to "host" them. They're still sleeping after a long day at the farmers market, then the "new" farm (where they moved the house) to work there.

They are bound and determined to make the gigantic transfer of operations this winter. That means having a habitable house to live in. We're all going there today (5 miles away from my house) to work, heat or no heat.

Oops, I hear everybody up. Have a great day--and week.

I am one of the worst for absenteeism. Sorry!

I understand. You have bigger issues to deal with. No problemo.

I finally got the last of my garden in. The major storms we were supposed to get today fizzled out. It is upper 80s again today. My AC and furnace fan are getting a workout.

I got a little wet on the golf course under a brief shower, but that's all. Time to do some serious garden watering. I have to replant some sweetcorn.

I just recently came back to blogging, and currently blog here and on blogster. I've been wondering about this site....seems to be very little commentary on posts. I figured it was that many of mine have been a bit controversial lately and people just don't want to comment. I don't know. I DO know that I have questioned whether to continue here. Think I'll stick around a bit longer and see how it goes. Happy Monday!

I haven't been reading your posts because I didn't know you were "out there". I'll add you to my friends list. True, we're not too controversial. I'm on Blogster, but seldom go there. This is enough for me.

Had our Art Guild auction (fundraiser today.) I have been the event coordinator and this took a month of work. Now it is home time and not answering the phone for a few days. Have a cool day.

I know I'm never without something to do. I suppose I could play less golf. Yeah, right.

Our farmers market starts next week. The farmers come so far and work so hard and start so early. This is the third year for us to have the market and we really appreciate having the farmers come. Every suburb has one now so there is a lot of competition and the farmers are not selling like they used to. I have a friend who just started farming a year ago. He is selling shares (CSA) and sold out this year.

My farmer friend's farm is in NW Il near Galena. He sells the CSAs in the NW Chicago suburbs. He has three drop off points at people's houses. The shareholders pick them up there. It is still a lot of work getting the orders together. He had an awful summer the first year. Storms, then drought, tomato hornworms, raccoon devastating all the corn.

CSA is the coming thing. It's almost too much for Nate and Emily to handle. Thanks (on their behalf) for supporting farmers markets. Not even I do! (But I do my own thing.)

Actually, I've been posting more frequently than ever. But I agree, it's been slow lately. PS What could possibly be chewing through the stems of my squash blossoms and dropping them to the ground?

True-you've been a "regular" recently. Squash borers get in the stems. I'm not sure about the blossoms. If we don't get rain, I won't even have blossoms.
reply by solitaire on June 11, 2012 4:25 AM ()
Maybe squash borers.
