As the old song goes, give me the simple life. But for a reason.
Let's face it. I'm "challenged" when it comes to mechanical, electrical, construction, or anything that's hands on.
You all know I don't own a cell phone or ipad or anything else that most people carry around with them. It's more than "living the simple life" or not wanting to deal with them. It's that I'm scared. Scared? Yes. At this point I feel stupid that I don't know anything about how they work. I'm ignorant (and not particularly proud of it).
The same goes with motorcycles or semi trucks or boats. I've never driven one--don't know how, don't want to know how.
I've never run a weed eater (I hand clip). I hoe garden weeds, not rototill (although I own a tiller). I split wood by muscle, not machine.
While I drive a small truck, I don't drive a golf cart.(I have driven a tractor on several occasions.) I probably wouldn't have a computer if it weren't for my ex-wife.
I don't own, nor have ever shot, a hand gun, rifle or shotgun. Power tools, like a table saw? No way. Whatever runs on its own power--gas or electricity--I'm avoiding. Chain saws and lawn mowers are exceptions. Once I get used to the "unknown", I'm okay. I'm just too intimidated to try something new.
True, I'm embarrassed to admit I'm a stone age guy. I could write my own version of a "diary of a wimpy old kid", not something I'm proud to admit.
On another issue, Lehman's catalogue that I get, is a font of old-fashioned things few make any more -- camping equipment and wood stoves and other stuff that might interest you. If you already know about it, you will know what I mean. Elsewise, if you'd like to take a look, call 800-877-5346 and they'll send you a copy. Be well. T.
