Minor Irritations

For some crazy reason, I thought yesterday (June 12) was Fathers Day. So I invited the whole clan for a cookout/picnic. It actually worked out okay, since my daughter and family wouldn't have been able to make it on the real Fathers Day. But I felt rather embarrassed.

The irritations (see title) came about with my attempt to clean out and up the refrigerator. I tried to separate the glass from the plastic "holders in placers" to clean better. I did, but couldn't for the life of me get them back together! Oh, the aggrevation! Finally, I was successful.

Not so much, however, for the clogged kitchen sink. I've taken it apart underneath several times to clean, but the clog is in a bend under the underneath! There I was, two hours before everyone was to arrive (which became only one hour because of my stupid sister and father coming an hour early!), and I've got the pipes all apart, back together, leaking, not draining, and smelly like a sewer! Grrrrrr.

And I have food preparations to do! Noooooooooo! Not now!
I was in panic mode. Finally, I got it all put back together again, but it is still clogged. I tried "The Works", but no luck (3 times). I'll be working on it sometime this week.

And if bad things happen in threes, consider my windshield wipers on my truck. Needed replacement, bought some, tried to install them. One side successful, one failure. Why, I kept asking? I spent a good hour trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. What's the matter with me? So I took them back today and discovered the manufacturer packaged a defective wiper! "No wonder" the NAPA man said! He popped a new one right on. I felt vindicated. I wasn't as stupid as my refrigerator shelves, clogged pipe and wiper fiasco led me to believe. I'm just stupid in other ways!

You do a lot of your own stuff. Maybe now and then, you should give yourself a treat and, for instance, get a plumber. Glad your Father's day party went well, just the same.

Really, I'm hopelessly helpless! I'm no electrician or carpenter or plumber. I just pretend to be one. I do what I think I can do, but leave the rest to experts.

Gosh! All of our worlds are falling apart at the same time! Must be the moon or something. Hope things improve in the coming days and weeks, and no, you are not the least bit stupid!

Besides your PC, how is your world falling apart? Maybe we're in mid-life crisis! Hang in there.

Golf, like tennis, can release a lot of tension. However both sports require some finesse at times. Neither is a brute sport. Hopefully, you'll be able to see the ball better with your "new" eyes!

Dad's present.

I have a feeling you're the queen of wrapping presents! I always tried, at least. Never good at it.

I replace my wipers every year at AutoZone and the man there puts them on for me. Free labor. That's a vanishing item.

Every year? This my third pair in 7 years. Should last me 3 more if I hang on to my truck that long (73k miles now).

Yuck. Windshield wipers are harder to install than they need to be.
comment by crazylife on June 13, 2011 8:30 PM ()
Awe! That's not fun stuff... I am glad you weren't in error on the wipers! And I thought Father's day was this weekend too...

It's funny--I seldom think about ME being a father on Fathers Day. It's always the other fathers out there, including my own.

There are days you get ready for company and days for clogged sinks but not both on the same day!
By the way next time think a little faster on your feet---"Every day is Father's Day!"

And I'm going golfing today. That'll release some of my frustrations. KILL THAT BALL!!
