Meltdown

Got up at day-break to beat the heat jogging. Did 6 miles and never saw a car or another person. Two dogs ran at me, however. That's always scary.

My house stays relatively cool without using AC (which I have but don't like). I open a basement window and "attic" windows, which allows cool air to rush through the house. True, it's humid air, but the house stays around 75, even if it's 95 outdoors. Perfect.

I'm a little hot under the collar at my doctor. Remember he brushed off my contention that I had wax in my ear. He said I had an infection. After 10 days of amoxicillan, I was no better. Yesterday, I returned, and he said "you have wax in your ear". No duh!! He washed it out, and I said "Hallelujah!!!" I could hear again. I suffered unneccessarily for two weeks. Plus it cost me two office visits and two prescriptions. Grrr.

I'm really losing faith in those people that run our lives--politicians and doctors. We trust them to do the right things, but in the end, they're just human like the rest of us. We all make mistakes--sometimes costly. Well, have a nice weekend. Stay cool.

Glad you can hear again and that it was only a wax problem.

Thanks, Nan. I had fears of permanent hearing loss. Not ready for that.

I am so happy for you that it did turn out to have an easy solution and you are back to normal hearing.

But why are simple solutions so difficult? Still, it was worth the $44. Yeah for Medicare!

What really makes me so angry is that their mistakes cost us, not them. Why the hell can't a doctor listen to his patient??!!! You know more about yourself than he does but just because he has a "degree" he thinks you don't know what you are talking about and he is a genius when he is really being a stupid ass for not listening to you. Can you tell I have had this problem also? You touched a sore spot with me, sorry.

And here I thought you were angry on my behalf! But oh yes, this isn't the first time I've been misdiagnosed. 7 years ago, I was told I had colon cancer. After operating, they said, "Oops". NOT! I'm still steaming over that mistake. Plus ankle surgery for naught. Plus.......... Grrrrr.

Had this figured out.The wax was culprit.I am so glad that it came back and good for you.I know the feelings of doctors some are good and some are so so.Good luck.Have a great weekend.

Thanks, Fredo. I'm telling you, it's great hearing the beautiful sounds coming out of my piano! I couldn't play for two weeks because I couldn't stand the muted tones.

Flesh mechanics. They need to go to a good trade school.

That's a good way to put it. Hope your health is better. I haven't done a good job in keeping up with posts this summer.

I absolutely loathe going to the Dr. even though he is a very sweet man.

I love our internist. He is really competent and he thinks I am awesome. What's not to like? Also he laughs at my jokes. At our first interview, he asked me "What else?" I said, "I grind my teeth," and when he asked why, I answered, "So I don't have to kill people." He loved it.

Yes, there's always the chance they'll find something wrong. Like when it was determined I had high BP. Not any more. At last check last Friday, it was 105/68! I've cut my medication in half and feel better.

Just remember--it is the practice of medicine--and they, sadly, practice on us!!! I've been doing my semi-annual rounds of my specialists and will, at the end of the month, blog about the 'journey'!

Doctors always seem to be in such a rush. Like speed reading, they miss the details. Hope your "adventures" find nothing dramatic. We'll await your final chapter. Good luck.
