Meet the Cynic

First, before I go into my quasi-tirade, allow me to express my surprise at seeing my new avatar pop up this morning! I tried changing it a month ago, after my New England trip. It "failed", or so I thought, because of sizing problems.
Suddenly, there it is! Very perplexing.

Secondly, in "local" news, I'm going to go pick up an organic turkey today, compliments of a trade for veggies by my farm kids. It's an $80 turkey! 20lbs. Can't wait to eat it (actually, I have to wait 'til Fri. when we can all gather).
I might add that my SIL has started grading the sites for the house (to be moved), barns, and driveway. I helped him yest. cutting small trees and clearing brush in the corner of the woods where the house will go. (If I could ever figure out how to post pics here (like Martin), I'd show you the progress. Alas.....

Not too long ago, I stated I was not going to write about or barely comment about politics. I mean, we're a year away!
And I'm doing a fairly good job ignoring all the garbage the Republicans are tossing out (Aren't they a joke?).

When I first heard about the so-called "Super Committee" failing to compromise on how to cut the nation's deficit, I was disappointed and, of course, angry at the "party of NO".
But the more I hear and read, maybe it's not so bad afterall. Cut will be forced in defense spending and farm subsidies. That's good. What's not good is the 19% cut in education and 14% in transportation fundings among others.

But this "pledge" signed by all Republicans not to raise taxes (the Norquist pledge) has Congress by the b..ls. The wealthy one percent controls them by not killing the geese that lays the golden eggs. If I lived close to a 99% protest rally, I'd be there.

And what's even more irritating is to hear comments such as I read in today's paper by a Norman Berube (49 yr old construction worker, "independent" from N.H.): "He's (Obama) not getting my vote--no way. This country is worse off." This is precisely the kind of stupidity that drives me insane. Like it's his fault! Our president is doing everything humanly possible to right the ship. Let's put the blame where it belongs--the Republicans.

Am I a cynic when it comes to politics and politicians? You're damn right I am. My two magic words to solve all our problems is simple: DO SOMETHING!! In order to save the United States of America, we must do something--ACT!
For yours truly, it's not much more than a single vote, come November. This post won't help matters, but I feel better.

I wondered why you didn't raise your own. My mother always had a big flock
to sell for Thanksgiving. It was mad money.

I really hate chickens. Turkeys probably aren't much better. My SIL raises chickens and is considering turkeys at some point. Better him than me.

No organic turkey here- just plain turkey! For the first time, I overcooked it. That is because with two kids and the mayhem... naps, run to the playground, etc., all when we are supposed to be sitting down to eat, it all just got away from me. Well, gravy over turkey goes a long way to rectifying that. Send me an email with your address. I no longer have yours since you changed accounts.

I don't have your email, so here's mine via mybloggers: smith.randall324@gmail.com (or jazzman@geetel.net 'til Jan 1)
Yes, my drumstick was very dry and chewy, so gravy helped a lot. Glad you had a reasonably good T-giving.

Meow out loud? Don't get a bone stuck in your throat.

That avatar that I am seeing today (red windbreaker) has been visible to me for many weeks - probably ever since you posted it. Maybe the cache on your computer was causing the old one to display for you only. Scary thought, makes one wonder what other out-dated info you're seeing.

Really?! I've had other weird things happen here, too. Like posting something but not finding it for a day or two. Your trouble shooting assessment is probably correct. I could sure use your help.

Actually I post the pictures over at the other site then C & P them here--one time I was able to post pictures here but don't know what happened--with so much easier software out there for posting pictures I wish Eddie would change BUT he does enough here for us just by having mybloggers I guess pushing it won't do any good.
I very seldom 'do' politics but I made the mistake last night at that other site--unbelievable how stupid they are--from reading their comments about the booing of Michele to the 'commie, liberal, socialists' posts 24/7 I want to punch the 1-2 dozen idiots there--ARGH!!!!!!

I'm not after a wider audience, so I stick with mybloggers by itself. I get into enough trouble with some of my readers (usually female). I ignored last night's "debate", newspaper summary included.

Hello cynic!
Very cool that you are getting an organic turkey. I am getting used to that phrase. It doesn't seem possible for a living being to be organic, but I do know that they are usually more humanely raised. Poor things. Anyways! I will be eating my celebration roast for Thanksgiving and enjoying every morsel!
comment by kristilyn3 on Nov 22, 2011 7:35 AM ()
You're saying "no turkey"? I've heard of ham as a replacement, but not a roast. Get this: an organic turkey costs $6.50/lb. It was a 23 pounder! That's like $150!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
