Life Goes On.

Thanks to all of you concerned readers, regarding my dog bite.
I did go to the doctor within 28 hours. He patched my hand up and told me how to care for it. Prescribed amoxicillin, just in case. I'll return to him in 3 days (now two). Hand is swollen and painful, but time will heal.

I took my kids (2 of mine plus 2 grand) to pick blueberries yest. Even one handed, I out-picked them. We were lucky they let us in. Due to a miserable season, they were closed to "locals". I gave them the truth that my kids were visiting from Calif., and we were looking forward to picking blueberries. He said "good luck" in finding any, but we got $23 worth! So now they're closed for the season. We were fortunate indeed. Now I have my year's supply of black raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries. No strawberries. Red rasps will come on this Fall--better than Spring crop.

So, I'm taking it easy today (although I went jogging at daybreak this morning to beat the heat--no dogs!). The piano tuner is coming shortly--AC is on! Kids are gone.

Stay cool, wherever you are.

Some people just have pianos in their house like a piece of furniture--you know to put photographs on!

Seriously, my feeling is that I have lived to 75--every day after today is an 'extra'

Glad to hear you got that hand looked at and you've got your AC running. With this heatwave our overnight lows are in the high 50s and my tomato plants have lots of fruit. We'll see if any of it ripens. We watered the grass today (big process starting the river pump) and because of that we had a thunderstorm tonight. It's one of the corollaries to Murphy's Law.

I watered certain plants in the garden yest., then watched a T-storm skirt around me--nary a drop. Coons in the corn last night! I'm so mad. Did up a batch of beans and broc for the freezer yest. I hate snapping beans. Eating tomatoes now!!!!!!!!! Like candy.

Nobody gets to miss this heat wave. It will or is already affecting every state east of the Rockies.

Still, for me, better hot than cold. Starting to water my garden now.

I'm tempted to go golfing--hand doing fine--but the heat is keeping me house-bound. I'm finding things to do.

Indiana is just on the verge of the terrible heat. Hope you miss it.

We're not "missing" the heat. Mid 90's all week with stifling humidity. I still ran this morning. I'm not too bright!

So glad you went to the doctor! Dog bites are often nasty. Ok, now I can stop worrying.

I even will ask for directions when lost! Hopefully, the dog's owner will pay for my doctor expenses (co pay and meds). Thanks for "worrying".

Sounds like the good life--fresh fruit, place to yourself, getting the piano tuned (silly question--do you play?) BUT still the silly running, dog or no dog!!! Don't want to sound inane (LOL) but haven't exercised in 75 years and don't plan to and don't want to sound egotistical (ME?) but as long as I stay as gorgeous as I am I'll let you run for me--thanks
comment by greatmartin on July 19, 2011 8:23 AM ()
Oh, and yes, I play the piano (jazz). Why else have it tuned?

My uncle always laughed and ridiculed my father for "exercising". Said it would kill him. Well, Dad got the last laugh. Uncle Bob died at age 79, dad is 93 and going strong. We'll see.

Hi kiddo (relatively speaking). Yes, the hand is better. I think it looks worse than it is. No deep fang wounds.
