Another Gorgeous Day

The weather is quite the opposite from the title: Miserable, depressing (although I don't get depressed), crumby, awful.

I usually don't post every day, but I have nothing else to do, so I'll come up with something.

First off, I "injured" my right thumbnail area last night, and it hurts like hell. I have had this disease for 5 years that causes three of my fingernails to discolor, become brittle, and detach. One tried to detach prematurely last night. I tossed and turned all night in pain (and too lazy to get up and take a pain killer). So I'm semi-incapacitated today.

No golf (I did play yest.) or gardening today. Besides, it's too wet and cold. But, I did get the grass mowed and a row of corn and green beans planted the past two days. Transplanted some strawberry plants to my new patch over the septic system. They should do well! And my new grass around the patch is doing well. I certainly haven't had to water it!

I think I mentioned I got my blueberry plants set. The soil has to be just perfect. I've been harvesting a "bunch" of asparagus every day--and eating it every day, too. No wonder my bathroom stinks(!). I'll soon be eating lettuce and spinach and radishes. I love salads. Rhubarb, too, coming on strong.

Birds: I have birds! Lots of birds and many different species. No bluebirds yet, but something I haven't identified. It's throat and head is a purple red color, but I don't think it's a purple finch. More like a house finch, but my bird book says they aren't found in Indiana. Sparrow size with a melodic wren-like song. Hmmm.

I should have plenty of fruit this year. The trees are loaded with blossoms, and I can see and hear the honey bees buzzing around. Maybe not today.

So, I'm staying indoors all day. Even have the wood furnace going! Suppose to get down to freezing tonight. We're 20 deg. below "normal" (average). At least I have a book to read. Wait! Is the sun trying to peek out?

Spring is taking its sweet time, but it's magical to see things grow and bloom. We're expecting a frost warning tonight, so maybe cover up the green babies in the garden! Hope your thumb heals soon, Randy!

At least the wind is helping the ground dry up quicker. The thumb nail area is still quite tender and throbbing. It's amazing how much I need to use my right thumb--and can't!

We are in the eighties during the day and the high fifties at night. Perfect weather. I planted 3 tomato plants Sunday and have my fingers crossed.....I do not have a green thumb. Any suggestions will be very much appreciated.

Hi Nancy! Good for you in planting tomatoes. No special hints. They have a mind of their own. Hopefully, you planted them down to the first set of leaves. Be patient!

Today was gorgeous . 72 and no wind. I worked in the yard and washed the
car.

Wow! No wind in Oklahoma?! Rare day, huh? Every time I wash my truck, it rains. I quit.

So many on MyBloggers live country lives, I am in awe. My area is as country as I am prepared to be. Still hunger for the thrall of New York City streets. My cleaning lady was in New York City's Chinatown last week with her young daughter. Said her daughter was mesmerized by New York. I so envied her seeing it for the first time and taking to it like a duck to water. A girl dear to my heart.

I think I've mentioned it before to you: I love NYC!! What an incredible city! However, I think I'll stick with the Indiana countryside. It has its own charms.

This looks like the Spring that never came.

Usually by this time, I've golfed at least a dozen times, probably closer to 20. This year, only thrice. Today doesn't look promising either.

I've been reading about the folks in southern Illinois and Missouri struggling with all the rain and river flooding, and when I saw this title I was surprised you weren't getting that weather, but turns out you are.

Over 100 farms, including homes, were flooded yest. when the Corp of Engineers blew up a levee to "save" Cairo, IL. I can't imagine how they must feel! How awful. Sacrifice a few for the many. Farmers are suing.

I know I complain a lot, so I try to toss in a "happy" post every once in awhile. Regarding post photos, see my reply to Martin.

Eiw that weather doesn't sound good at all, but staying inside sounds like a good day as well.. Although it will probably be hard for you! Asparagus is awesome. I love it even though it has consequences.

As it turned out, the afternoon wasn't too bad--cool, but sunny. I went for a walk in the woods (mushrooming-with no luck).

It's 10:30 AM and only 80 degrees--hopefully it will warm up during the day--if I played golf it would be a beautiful day to play a game!
So when can I expect a box of veggies and fruits? (Something tells me after that first sentence I'll only be getting rotten tomatoes thrown
at me.
How about posting a picture of the bird? (That will give you something to do.)

Martin, you know I'm incapable of posting photos! Whether it's me or this stupid dial-up, I don't know. I'd love to move to Florida. And I do envy you and your weather. But I'm stuck here in Indiana (for a variety of reasons). I just like to complain. Besides, it aids in your gloating.
