I usually avoid talking about the weather--rather boring--but I must say I'm enjoying a stretch of 80s this week. I mean, it's been since last October that it's been this nice. I was beginning to wonder if Spring/Summer would ever arrive.
The farmers are out in force. The fields are crawling with tractors. The smell of dirt fills the air. The dust and grass pollen has given me fits of sneezing, but I'm used to it. I grew up with horrible allergies--pills, shots, etc. were of no use. It kept me out of the service (and Vietnam). But I've "grown out" of hayfever. So my bouts are mild and temporary. My natural antihistamines have conquered my childhood allergies. For that, I'm grateful.
Walking around on a golf course for 3 hours each day exacerbates my lingering hayfever symptoms, what with the constant grass mowing. But it hasn't kept me off the course! I've been going out after an early lunch--yes, in the heat of the day. Less crowded and faster play, which, as an impatient golfer, I appreciate. I still have plenty of time to do yard and garden work before I call it a day. Got my lawn mowed yesterday (takes 1 hour) and grass raked (for compost and vegetable cover). Even mowed my newly planted grass (over the new septic field) for the first time. Looking good. ACHOO!
Next post will list what I have planted in the yard and garden for this year. Enjoy your weekend, my friends!
