Better Than Nothing

Something here is better than nothing, I figure. There are still a handful of "subscribers" out there.

My every other day post plan was interrupted by babysitting yest. We had a grand time. Little Johnny will be 3 in Oct.
His mother (my daughter, Emily) and he stayed overnight (Sun) with Nate for supper (grilled pork chops and corn on the cob).

Earlier Sunday, both my sisters (twins) and father came out for corn and tomatoes (that electric fence has kept the 'coons away!). One sister is giving her 10 yr old car to her grandson in Palm Springs, and taking dad's car for a replacement. There's a little dissension involved, but it's a done deal.

My other sister (Barb) is being harassed by a HS classmate of hers, still married to a Parkinson's victim. Unexpected visits, phone calls, drive bys, etc. She was so intimidated, she stayed overnight at my house (along with Emily and son). What to do, what to do?

Drought continues. We're in a desparation situation. Wells are drying up. Of course, so are the crops (and my garden).
My SIL is beside himself. I "loaned" them another $2000 just so they can survive. Depressing.

That's the update from Rossville "Woebegone".

Your sis must register a complaint with the police and if necessary get a restraining order. Even if the police do nothing, it will be on the record. The first question police ask if the problem escalates (to prove your credibility) is why didn't you report this?

On the last phone call, Barb told him to stop or else.... He agreed. The dark side of so-called decent citizens amazes me.

I'm having the best garden year ever. Lots of sun, and almost enough rain. Scary stuff with your sister. Agree that she has to tell him to stop.

Nothing new on the sister front. He went to Florida for 2 weeks. Glad somebody has a productive garden!

No religious "faith" for me either but I still have "faith".

Good to hear.

I hope Indiana doesn't become another dust bowl.

Doubtful. Just a cyclical thing (like global warming?).

We got a little rain last night and a little rain a week ago. We are still 4 inches below normal and in drought. No corn.

I was able to put up about 4 quarts of corn, enough to get me by 'til next year. In the old days, I had to feed a family of 6. I'll survive.

That is scary for your sister. Stalkers are a serious matter.

I didn't want to use the word stalker, but yes, that appears to be the situation. I told her she must tell him "STOP!" In no uncertain terms.

By my calculations you are averaging 70.58 post reads per post. Just because people don't leave a comment doesn't mean they aren't checking out your posts. Hope you get some rain soon.

Maybe 7.058. Thanks for the glass half full analysis. I tend to be empty.

Hang in there! I can hardly picture you in the same life as your two sisters let alone the same family.

We're all somewhat different than the other. Guess that's what makes the world go 'round.

Something is always better than nothing. Keep the Faith.

Thanks. Non religious faith, of course (for me).
