Overdosing

Okay, I admit to watching a little too much Olympics action. I've even stayed up beyond my bedtime. Horrors! And I've even turned the TV on during the afternoon to see what was happening. Double horrors!

I've enjoyed the standards--gymnastics, swimming, etc. And I've become familiar with some odd sports--field hockey and kayaking to name a couple. Some are exciting, some boring.

I can't get into soccer. Really boring. Fencing and table tennis are too fast for these slow eyes. Volleyball must be a popular viewer sport--it's on every time I turn on the telly. It's not my fave: bump, set, spike. Bump, set, spike, over and over and over. (I remember Hayduke's (Jim) post on beach volleyball 4 years ago. He's a big fan. The skimpy bikinis actually embarrass me. I suppose it's the closest thing we come to the original nude Greek Olympics!)

There's all these "preliminaries" and heats. Overload. And then there are variations in the same sport--one man, two man, 4 man, team, etc. I have enjoyed the rowing, if for nothing else, the teamwork involved in rowing. Amazing. And strenuous! Whew!

I don't know how many "sports" (and I put the word in quotes because I have my doubts as to what constitutes a sport) are in the Olympics, but not much is left out.

I heard tell "tug of war" is no longer a "sport". And didn't "speed walking" once belong? I guess it's all evolving. Next, we'll be having tricycle racing, soapbox derby downhill, darts, backward mile, or some other "weird" activity (like the Senior Olympics has a softball throw).
I'm not complaining, just commenting.

Speaking of walking, I figured I walked and jogged 193 miles in July. That averages 6.2 miles per day, including days I babysat, drove to Michigan, etc. Little wonder I weigh only 120 lbs (at 5'8")!

Back to the Olympics. Later.....

I too am overdosing on the Olympics. I have been watching the swimming, the gymnastics, a little beach volleyball. I saw the women's 8 rowing when the US won. A little water polo. Some women's basketball-3 local women are playing-one plays pro for the Indiana Tigers now and two play for the Sky. I cry every time we get a gold medal and the flag goes up and the music plays. The women's gymnasts blow my mind. And Michael Phelps, of course. We are watching history being made.

Great! I'm glad someone else is "hooked". I'm even going to alter my weekend exercise time just to watch the Olympics starting at 9 AM. (See new post)

Wow! If you get any smaller, you will disappear! Are you sure 120 lbs. is a healthy weight for a man?

I'm not anorexic or bulimic. I eat like a horse--all the right foods, of course. I take whey protein supplements and my vitamins (probably unnecessary). I feel great, happy, and positive. Did you read my reply to Kristilyn? I'm sure I'm healthier than most. So, bottom line, not to worry!

I am more of a winter olympics fan. when I was little I dreamed of being the next Peggy Fleming.

Nothing wrong with that! I always get the chills when I watch the Winter Olympics.

Wow, that is skinny for a guy! I haven't been watching much, but was thrilled and shocked to actually see Dressage on today! It's my favorite riding "sport" and the last time I managed to watch it on the Olympics I must have been about 10 years old! Even if it was advertised that they would show it, they never did. And saw Anky van Grunsven's ride - I saw her at a demonstration at Spruce Meadows (show jumping place near Calgary).

With 5 channels covering the Olympics, sooner or later one can catch his/her favorite sport. By the way, I like to think of myself as "wiry"!

skinny mini. I am very over the Olympics. Ron loves to watch them, I really couldn't care less. I like to hear that the US is doing ok, but that's about it.

If you've ever seen photos of men in the first half of the 1900s, you'd notice they're all "skinny". By that standard, I would be normal. With 70% of today's men "overweight", I'm considered thin. I'm healthy, that's the main thing.

Here we go again. Are you bragging about the weight there. You must be addicted to your weight.Your too thin.Need some muscle there.Pump the iron and get your bicep.

I lift weights all winter. It's just not meant to be. Skinny people live longer. I love to eat, so I have to work to maintain my "lean and mean" bod.

For some reason, I am not watching the Olympics at all. I think it is because it is too much trouble to find out when the gymnastics are on. I am just somewhere else in my head these days. Anyway, if I want to watch great events, I can find some on YouTube. Glad you are enjoying them.

At every four years, I figure I'm running out of Olympic moments!
